Please could you ask your DH/DP if they can recommend a product for ingrown hairs?

As a result of shaving. DH suffers badly and we've read all sorts of differing advice, just wondered if anyone could recommend something they used.

Exfoliate regularly with a faciacl scrub. Body Shop used to do one in their mens range.

they still do - DH is a fan of it

or a (manly, obv) exfoliating mitt - also good for spot-prone backs in the shower

I have used Ingrow Go on my bikini line after waxing and it's great, but as redwino (and my beautician) say, exfoliation is the most important thing. That helps prevent new ones, but skin lotions help to encourage the existing ones out. They are astringent though, so not good for using over a long period. I found, (this is a bit gross) that after using Ingrow Go for a few days that the ingrown hairs develop "heads" like spots and can be squeezed gently to pop the hair out.

These super-pointy tweezers by Tweezerman are brilliant for plucking out hairs just under the skin, but you obviously need to be careful!

If he doesn't already use an electric razor, I would consider that. Shaving products dry the skin and can make ingrown hairs worse. Unless he's going to wet shave in the traditional way with soap lather (rather than shaving foam) and hot towels and all that, then electric is the way to go.

DH wet shaves 'in the tradtional way'

hot flannel first, then shaving oil, then soap lather (Kent is lovely, Body Shop v nice but expensive, the cheap blue Wilkinson Sword one is nasty)

tendskin is great. But I heard you can make a very reasonable approximation of the stuff by putting a couple of soluble asprin in some glycerine and rosewater and dabbing it on. I shall try that when I run out of my current bottle.

Thank you all. DH does exfoliate but at the mo it hasn't helped. I had heard about tendskin but will have a look at making the little concoction you mention toolly.

Thanks again.
