This year, I’m treating myself to a new pair of sunglasses – I’ve got a few Ray-Bans and a pair of Le Specs. The Ray-Bans were easy to buy as I just ordered them when they were 20% off on ASOS, and the same with the Le Specs – it was a simple purchase... I bought what I liked.
This year, I want to buy a designer pair, maybe Tom Ford or Celine, but the issue I’m finding is that every time I visit Sunglasses Hut, or anywhere that stocks sunglasses, I’m always given an opinion by the staff, and it’s really starting to make me doubt myself. For example, “They’re too big,” “They’re too wide,” etc. – and it drives me mad! I politely say, “I’m fine, thank you,” when asked if I need assistance, but it’s like they can't help but offer their opinions when I'm trying them on.
A few weeks ago, I popped into a Sunglasses Hut concession in John Lewis. I tried on a pair of sunglasses, and the lady working there came rushing over and said, “No, no, these aren’t the right shape for you; they don’t suit you,” even though I quite liked them, which really annoyed me.
I’m having a bit of a rant, but my question is: when you’re shopping for sunglasses, do you pick up what you like? Do you care how others think they look on you, or do you just go with your own preferences?
