Genuinely hypoallergenic foundation - help!

I've been having a skin crisis this week. My skin is always bad anyway, rosacea, so I've always worn a heavy coverage foundation. This was from Clarins but they've recently changed their formula and I think this is perhaps what I have started reacting too. Stinging, burning and serious dryness around my mouth and eyes (which were never issues before). I used some of the leftovers of my old foundation yesterday and this morning my face is significantly better so I am hopeful it is Clarins' new formula that has caused this. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good foundation that won't upset sensitive skin and give good coverage? They all claim to be hypoallergenic! Any help much appreciated

My skin is having a massive wobble atm too and I bought Boots Natural collection skin tint the other day for this very reason. No smell and I think no SPF and so far so good.

i react to perfume, mica and I think chemical spf.

When my skin is tally bad I survive use a tinted mineral spf instead, avene and bubble have good ones. Not quite the same as full on foundation but a good compromise

It sounds as though you've reacted to something in the new formulation but without knowing what that is it's difficult to make a recommendation.

Could you email Clarins customer service and ask for an ingredient list of the old formulation and the new one? You could then compare to see if you can narrow down what caused the reaction or you could use the old formulation ingredients to look for a similar foundation.

I suffer from rosacea too, and last year my skin randomly started reacting to foundation that I'd been using for years, its so annoying.
Recently I've been using the Erborian red correct CC cream, and then a Nars concealer on top. Its a lot less heavy cover, but it does seem to do the trick cancelling out the red without making my skin have a huge wobble.

That's a good idea - I switched back to the very last of my old foundation yesterday and today and my skin is almost back to normal already, so I think it was definitely that, which is a relief to actually identify the problem. I'll definitely email to try and see what the ingredient is as I can't afford to trial several different foundations

Great tips, thank you

I wonder if IT Cosmetics would work? The founder created them as she had rosacea herself. I have sensitive skin and they are fine for me.

I find its fragrance in products that is a trigger for me, and it does seem like a lot of the high end foundations have fragrance in them. You can easily get a trial size sample of things to see if they suit your skin. I also think Boots foundations might be suitable?

Clinique

I am allergic to any contact with perfumed products, skin can’t tolerate anythjng and also some give me sinusitis and a sore throat.

my allergies got much worse during peri menopause.

Putting skincare actives into base make up is a really big trend at the moment. Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide appear a lot but a number of people do have an allergic reaction to those. I've seen lots of people complaining especially about Niacinamide being in everything. It could be something like that.

Clinique Redness Solutions works for me (rosacea bad enough for permanent antibiotics prescription).
