Suddenly look much older

I’ve recently had a baby and feel like I look soooo old, maybe it’s the tiredness or maybe I’ve been like this a while but wearing no makeup now at home, I’m noticing it more.

I’ve never been a beauty salon person so would love some tips on where to start on treatments that get rid of lines on forehead, crows feet and circular line around mouth/ cheek if you know what I mean, hard to explain it.

I wouldn’t be able to afford to go get fillers every month or anything like that so looking for low maintenance treatments.

TIA

Yes they are called nasolabial folds, just googed, they’re so deep. It must be the tiredness, does it really get better? I’m 37 so can only imagine it getting worse.

Where would one start with Botox ? It’s expensive isn’t it?

It really does get better OP, stress and tiredness is incredibly ageing, dont feel you have to do anything drastic whille you still have young kids.

I look much better now in my 40s than I did with a newborn in my late 20s and then early 30s. Not sleeping properly even 1 night gives me extra lines so a baby that doesn’t sleep
well made me look completely different, plus my eyes were always more closed looking as they were so tired. Once they got to 3 I started looking like myself again.

Nasolabial can look much worse with dehydration, everything looks much more 'sunken' when you're dehydrated.

i use retinol at night, and factor 15 in day cream. I don’t buy the expensive ones, should I? I also only wash my face with a basic face wash in the shower, I don’t use cleansers or anything. My skin is so so dry.

I don't have children, and I haven't seen signs of wrinkles yet, but I do sometimes get dry skin, and I can tell you that a mix of hyaluronic or polglutamic acid, plus another humectant product (a moisturiser which prevents water from escaping from your skin), will probably help.

You don't need to buy expensive products imo, I never do. I really like Simple Water Boost, Inkey List and Ordinary hylyronic acid. I always avoid fragrances as well.

Do you use all of these products at once? I’ve only ever used basic day cream so v clueless.

It’s definitely new motherhood and it WILL get better. Do you breast feed? If so that takes a lot out of you and you’re always dehydrated. Make sure you’re drinking enough water a glass of water every feed, including at night. Take a multivitamin

then there’s the tiredness due to sleep deprivation and loss of body condition post pregnancy. Your hair starts to fall out, you don’t eat well because your focus is elsewhere.

thats sounds negative! There’s stuff you can try and do. And that’s the explanation, it’s not permanent.

Please don’t do anything too drastic until you’ve given your body chance to recover. It takes a long time!

No, maximum two. Usually just one product.

If you get a good moisturiser like Simple Water Boost OR Neutrogina Hydro Boost that has everything in it you need to plump up and hydrate your skin. I'll usually just use that on its own.

Sometimes I use hyaluronic acid serum (from The Inkey List or The Ordinary) OR Polyglutamic acid serum, followed by a basic fragrance free moisturiser (like Simple Light Hydrating Moisturiser).

If you use hyaluronic acid, I think you need to layer another basic moisturiser over the top.

Hope that helps. x
