Makeup to make my 56 year old cheeks ‘dewy’?

KnewYearKnewMe · 23/03/2025 18:09

Hi all.

I’m 56, ok with make up but don’t upgrade my look very often.

I went to see the latest Bridget Jones film last week - I know she’s younger than me, but I loved the ‘dewy’ look of her face - a bit shiney but in a nice way.

i don’t drink, drink quite a lot of water, and my skin is ok. I use Estee Lauder
Doublewear foundation in autumn/winter which is thick and I like it.

i’m Ok with eye makeup and brows, but don’t do any shading or much with blusher. In fact - my ‘blusher’ is my lipstick which I use on my cheeks as well.

can anyone suggest a product/s that would work well please?

Cream blusher would be lovely. I personally really rate the Rose Inc cream blushes or the Bobbi Brown ones.

I love this No7 illuminator, it gives a gorgeous glow but isn't sparkly, which is what I want. I dab a tiny blob on top of cream blush (currently using one in a pot from Elf, super cheap but lovely subtle colours) - friends have commented how lovely my skin looks when I'm using it, so would definitely recommend

The Estée Lauder Hydra futurist foundation would work for you and give you the look you want.

Try Maybelline Perfector 4-in-1 Glow. Not too shiny so you look like a chip pan. Just right.

Oh wow - thank you for quick responses. I’ll have a look.

might even put them on my Mother’s Day list!

Rotate between Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid in your skin care routine every few days. Cosmetic Consult Miracle skin pads are a game changer too- amazing results that will give you a great foundation to work with.

Charlotte Tilbury stuff works for me - Flawless filter and glowgasm blush (hideous name though!). You only need a dab of it but it really works.

I love Glossier Futuredew on my cheeks. Not sparkly at all and gives a juicy glow. I also use tretinoin and lots of layers of Korean skincare each morning which on their own give a great glow.

I was about to post exactly the same- tret, Korean and Futuredew work really well.

I agree with this, I switched from DW to this.i tried the primer, but what gives me a glow is the moisturiser underneath. Is your moisturiser rich enough?

JustWhatIAlwaysWanted · 23/03/2025 18:39

As pp have said, the No 7 skin illuminator is good for this and I also like the hydraluminous foundation. I'm a few years behind you but not many!

KnewYearKnewMe · 23/03/2025 18:55

Thanks all. I’m looking for a cream blusher too.

I need these tips too. Thank you for the thread OP!!

Hyaluronic acid. Apply over damp skin.

kiwiblue · 23/03/2025 19:05

The MAC strobe cream is amazing for this. You put it under your foundation. I used to use it for nights out only, rather than every day.

When I was much younger I had a friend who swore haemorrhoid cream had the same effect but I personally wouldn't try it 😂

I love Charlotte Tilburys flawless filter underneath a decent tinted moisturiser. I pair it with Iconic liquid blush and Charlotte Tilbury setting spray and then go over my T-Zone with her compact powder for a glowy look in the right places.

Avoid powder highlighter and blushes
L’oreal glotion mixed in with face cream
L'Oréal Paris Lumi Les Glass Sticks
L'Oreal Paris Lumi Les Sticks Liquid Highlighter
I pat on some Makeup Revolution Balm Glow - Rose Pink as a highlighter.

I use a dupe of the Jones Road miracle glow called Revolution Balm Glow - Rose Pink as a highlighter.

Works a treat over eborian cc cream. That's all I wear now.

Well at £5.99 - that’s worth a try! Ordered, thanks so much x

Brilliant. I have really simplified my makeup as I've aged and feel it looks better than ever.
