Shaving your face alternatives

twiddlingthumbs69 · 23/03/2025 14:24

I fed up with taking a razor to my face every other day. Most of it is peach fuzz but I’ve got some cracking whiskers around my chin

Is there alternative, like a cream you can put on instead?

Dont want the expense of the epilater route.

What are you all using?

Veet wax strips (weekly) for my tache, I derma plane the rest of my face twice a week, and just avoid the mirror the rest of the time 😂
I wouldn’t fancy hair remover cream. I used it once for my top lip age 16/17 and it left my with bright red skin. It burns! I didn’t even leave it on for the required time.

Is Laser or electrolysis an option?

Samamfia · 23/03/2025 14:43

IPL. Honestly, it's brilliant. I use the at-home Philips Lumea. It took a few treatments (about 6 weeks) but now I have pretty much zero hair on my face, legs or underarms. Just have to top up the treatment every 6 weeks now.

@NotHavingAFunTimethanks. That’s what I was worried about tbh. Seems a bit harsh for the face

@Samamfiaoooh really? I’m going to look at that

Is your facial hair dark, @twiddlingthumbs69 ? It needs to be for the lines to work. No good for me. I alternate between a bic razor and an electric razor.

I got the cream but didn’t like it. Harsh, and not entirely effective.

Conundrumseverywhere · 23/03/2025 15:05

I wouldn’t shave peach fuzz!

twiddlingthumbs69 · 23/03/2025 15:06

@myplaceoh really? No im very fair

My post autocorrected and now makes no sense-
the LUMEA only works on pigmented hair. Mine is transparent/white, so isn’t affected. Sadly.

CosmicScouser · 23/03/2025 15:11

What about threading? This is something I've been meaning to look into lately.
I sound similar to you.
I did get my upper lip Lasered but the hair is quite fine (but visible) and so the laser didn't really work.

twiddlingthumbs69 · 23/03/2025 15:29

@CosmicScouseryeah that’s an option but I wanted something I could do myself really. Seems I might have to stick with the razor 😢

Oh yeah, I forgot that - sorry! I'm pale with very dark hair. It apparently doesn't work well if there's less contrast.

Bignanna · 23/03/2025 17:22

If it’s only a few dark hairs, just pluck

Genevie82 · 23/03/2025 17:33

Op- mini hot wax facial kit for home use. Will give you atleast 2 weeks hairless visage and gets all the little blighters out. Chin, lip, jaw .. Amazon sells lots x

I've been watching videos on YouTube today showing how to do it. Looks easy! And all you need is cotton thread! I'm gonna try it.

Fantina · 23/03/2025 19:21

Dermaplaning here in a good light

StrugglingwithIvanhoe · 23/03/2025 19:28

I second the Flawless trimmers.

CosmicScouser · 23/03/2025 21:44

Currently trying threading..
It's actually kinda tricky!
Think it would be easier with more plastic-y thread rather than cotton

Tatapie · 23/03/2025 22:09

Veet cream

Foxgloverr · 23/03/2025 22:12

Waxing or threading just gives me spots. I use the Flawless trimmer mentioned above.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/03/2025 22:18

Laser treatment worked miracles and wasn’t expensive.

WasteOfPaint · 23/03/2025 22:44

I'm having electrolysis and getting good results. The Phillips Lumea did nothing for me. Any kind of plucking, waxing etc gives me spots and ingrown hairs.
