Would have to be a maxi type, for obvious reasons, and not need ironing. Anyone seen any?

OP posts:

Look at Richer In Years on YouTube. She was trying on dresses from Next which might be what you’re looking for.

ScribblingPixie · 22/03/2025 15:33

Malene Birger does these.

shivbo2014 · 22/03/2025 15:33

I love all Sugarhill Brighton dresses.

Pinkdreams · 22/03/2025 15:34

there are loads of maxi dresses in every shop, especially with summer approaching, an alternitive could also be a flowy jumpsuit x

ANagsHead · 22/03/2025 15:40

Surely in the time it took you to write your OP you could just have typed Next or M&Spencer or Cos or MaxMara into Google, whichever you prefer?

It’s a rather wide and therefore uninteresting request …

TheChosenTwo · 22/03/2025 15:58

Not a maxi dress but I have a column skirt in a stretchy material, got it from Asos last year for about £15 and it’s probably one of my most worn wardrobe staples. It’s black, can be dressed up or down. So versatile.
Need to have a look again actually as I’ve lost weight and now I have to find things to tuck into and also roll the waistband a few times! Really hope I can get exactly the same one as it’s a true workhorse for me.

Do you not know how chat forums work?

Grin I’ve posted on about a million S&B threads over considerably more than a decade!

I just don’t feel How long is a piece of string is a useful place to start … At least give some parameters.

I don’t think it’s any less specific than someone asking for a dress for a wedding or a night out as the OP is looking for a dress in a particular fabric - maybe jersey or crinkle fabric. Linen and cotton tend to need ironing as does non-jersey viscose.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 22/03/2025 16:16

@BatmanisaplaceinturkeyIf you are looking for cheap and cheerful then Asda have a couple in cotton jersey.

But lots of those are exactly "how long is a piece of string?"

@IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle

Well, yes, but this is request is no less of a ‘how long is a piece of string’ than the other posts I mentioned, and they do make up most of S&B. Anyway, none of this is very helpful to the OP!

The most important bit is frequently missed out - budget. After that - general preferences to steer people into the right ball park. Next is size- but only if an OP is smaller than an 8 and larger than 18 to elimate brands who don't have extended sizes. Age - probably useful to know if an OP is over 20 but not actually dead.

Although these dresses are cotton and will need some minimal ironing they're not intended to be anything like wrinkle free.

I'd just not bother to shave my legs!

JaneJeffer · 23/03/2025 12:58

Those egg dresses look like some sort of Lenten self flagellation @IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/03/2025 13:02

I’ve got a couple of throw on, no ironing needed dresses from Fatface. Lots of their stuff is horrible, but they have the occasional nice thing.

For summer, Zara often do long dresses in very thin cotton. They need ironing though.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/03/2025 13:12

Wowsers. Those Egg dresses are £££. Do people really pay hundreds and hundreds of pounds on saggy cotton dresses?

HundredMilesAnHour · 23/03/2025 13:27

Pleats Please is always my go-to for dresses that don’t need ironing (and are machine washable) and can just be shoved in a bag when travelling.
