Surgery to improve neck

I don't know if this is the right place to post. I'm hoping for a bit of advice. I had major surgery in 2023 where the lymph nodes in my neck on one side were removed along with a large amount of fatty tissue. I had early stage oral cancer and the surgery was to check whether the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes, which it hadnt.. I later discovered I could have been referred to a number of other hospitals to have a minimally invasive procedure and would have left my neck pretty much in tact. My consultant didn't give me this option for whatever reason and I think he was totally wrong in doing so.

The surgery has had devastating consequences on my life. My neck is destroyed. It's totally skinny on one side with a big dent, and saggy the other side. I also suffer chronic pain. I've lost my confidence I take no pride in my appearance, I hate socialise, I have no joy in anything any more, I can never wear my hair up as I use it to hide my neck. That's not to mention the neck tightness and constant headaches and the chronic fatigue from having my lymph nodes removed.

I'm desperate to get surgery to try to improve my neck, even a little. I've read about a procedure called a fat graft or fat transfer when they take fat from the tummy and put it in your neck.

I've never had any cosmetic procedures before and I don't know how I would go about finding a reputable surgeon that doesn't charge a fortune. Could anyone advise please?

Many thanks.

I’d speak to your GP first for advice on where you are best to go.

Have you any private surgery clinics in your area? If so, look at reviews. You GP may be able to refer you to someone on the NHS, if it is causing you distress.

Thank you both for your replies. I was referred to a plastic surgeon on the NHS for a consultation. After waiting over a year for the first appointment, the plastic surgeon was very dimissive towards me vergjng on rude. He gave me all of 5 minutes of his time then said he'd see me for a follow up appointment in 6 months time. It's beyond a joke. I'm not going to get anywhere with the NHS so my only option is to go private. I'll do some research for clinics nearby and check the reviews.
