Microneedling, polynucleotides, radio frequency skin tightening?

I really need to do something about my face. I'm not even 40 and look so old it is really getting me down. My skin looks awful and I have fine lines and deep wrinkles everywhere.

I would like to avoid Botox if I can but I am so overwhelmed by all the options out there.

Do you have experience with any of the above? Anything you would recommend?

I’ve had the first two done. What’s the issue with botox?

What areas do you want to improve on?

I'm interested in reviews of these too

Have a look and see if any salons near you do a skin consultant - I went and had one last week, it was £10 but then you got that money back if you booked a treatment. I was keen to avoid making an expensive mistake. The woman gave me recommendation of things to do at home and also recommended a micro needling treatment.

I had it yesterday and it was good, obviously not sure of the long term effects yet and I'm meant to go regularly but skin feels plumper and more hydrated already!

Thank you!

Nothing wrong with Botox, I have anxiety and it makes me scared!

The part that bothers me most are the forehead lines as they are always showing. The others are mainly when I am smiling (pictures below with a very exaggerated smile to show them).

I sort of thought I was beyond help and only Botox would help but I have lately realised that the quality of my skin is also pretty bad, so maybe there are a few things that would improve it and make me feel a bit better already.

I swear by tretinoin, a good vitamin c (I use Skinceuticals) and a mineral spf.

Non surgically botox will always be the best for lines. There’s also profihlo to consider.

Botox well definitely help with the forehead lines. I only started having it last year (I'm 50) to make me look less frowny. What i hadn't realised was that it would slightly raise my whole forehead and eyebrows so my hooded eyelids are also much improved. I don't look "surprised", I just look properly awake and rested!

I'm not saying go and get botox, fair enough if it's not for you but it might be worth at least having a consultation before deciding.

I've had polyneuclitides under my eyes (course of 3) and although it seems to have smoothed and lightened the area, it's very subtle and I don't think it was worth it. It hasn't helped with the hollowness there which is the fat migrating down.

Skin treatments like microneedling and skin boosters might help particularly if you dint wear much make up. I like a full face of slap so improvements in my skin surface would be covered up.

I have had a bit of filler in my cheeks to replace lost volume and pull my lower face up a bit. I was really pleased with this. It's quite subtle and doesn't look fake or weird, I still look like me but more refreshed and not tired/cross looking.

Surely botox? It would smooth out your lines.

If not, tretinoin is the closest cream to botox per-se... have a look at Monderma

I've had microneedling, Profhilo and Botox. I have slight Rosacea that's under good control, so have stayed away from radiofrequency as I don't want the heat to flare it.

I would say that microneedling and profhilo do improve skin texture and condition, as does tretinoin, but they won't change wrinkles.

If you're inclined to try something, I'd probably start with them (or polynucleopeptides) and then see if you want to think about Botox - If you feel generally good about your skin, you might not mind a few wrinkles. Even when I do get Botox, I intentionally don't get rid of all of them, and I'm a lot older than you!

If this sounds harsh, I don’t mean it too, but before you go in with the big guns, what is your everyday routine like?

Do you use acids to exfoliate, hydrating serums, active ingredients like vitamin C or retinol? Do you cleanse every evening with a proper cleanser, not wipes or micellar water? All of these are small actions that compound overtime to deliver big results.

I know it’s tempting to find a silver bullet quick fix, but often being consistent and finding something that really suits your skin, is enough to make all the difference, and it is usually a lot cheaper in the long run.
