Small back larger cup recommendations

I've doing a wardrobe refresh, I'm struggling to find bras to fit me. I wear 30F/30FF, but using the boob or bust calculator that should be 28G, although I never find anything in that size.

All I want is a basic t shirt bra that doesn't show under clothes. Because I have a fairly small frame, all the straps on the DD+ versions of bras are far too wide, so they tend to be uncomfortable.

The main issue is that due to the small frame my breasts are very close together, I don't have any gap in between, and when for example on pour moi or boux avenue, you get the DD+ sizes, the style seems to change for the cups to be further apart, and the join in the middle is quite large, which is just incredibly painful. And then the bra is 'empty' next to my armpits but overflowing in the middle, which creats the dreaded 4 boob look....

I used to wear balconette bras, which tended to fit a lot better, but I can't seem to find any t shirt style balconette bras without lace etc, which tends to show through my t shirts.

Any suggestions? Thank you

Fantasie have a helpful page on their website on which bras work best for different shaped busts - a few are recommended for very close set busts most of which come in a 30F FF and G

If you have the budget I would 100% recommend a trip to Rigby and Peller. Even if you don’t buy a bra they will accurately measure you and find you a bra. Their bras are expensive but last a long time. They are the most accurate I’ve found with the largest range

CapabilityBrownsHaHa · 20/03/2025 17:00

Sadly, R&P don't measure the BoB way - they +4. The BoB site used to have a database where you could put variables in, and it would suggest make/ models to suit, or you can just search the FB group for recommendations. Brastop offer loads in this size, and you can also message them to ask if they would suit close breasts / narrow shoulders / need extra projection etc.. Pour Moi are usually v small in the band, so you might find more selection there in a larger band (I'd keep the cup size, though, so try 30g).

I have a narrow back and Bravissimo have fitted me in 28F and 28FF balconette or half cup bras. One was their own label and another was Panache. They're both lacy and underwired so might not be what you're want but, if you've not tried them, they're worth a go.

mimiasovitch · 20/03/2025 17:14

My boobs are very close together, and I find the bravissimo Millie and Panache Jasmine both have a narrow gore and the wires don’t come up too high

Duckies · 20/03/2025 17:43

Bra stop have a great range and good sales with free returns

JollyJunee · 20/03/2025 17:58

I e. Re. Fitted by R&Pa d they definitely didn’t add the 4. It was a great fit. My first ever proper bra, I couldn’t believe the difference!

Suzuki76 · 20/03/2025 18:11

I recommend Bravissimo Millie too. Or the Fantasie Fusion which Bravissimo sell.

Oceangrey · 20/03/2025 18:24

Bravissimo Niya, t-shirt plunge, it's really really good.

LegoHouse274 · 20/03/2025 18:36

Go to Bravissimo and have a fitting if you can. They're excellent and sell plenty of bras in size 28 and 30 back sizes. It sounds like you need plunge bras. As a PP said, the Niya is great. No idea what size I currently am due to breastfeeding and no time to go for a fitting, but pre-pregnancy a 28E and exclusively wore bras from Bravissimo. They do free returns too if you want to just order a load online and try at home.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 20/03/2025 18:37

I’d recommend the Bravissimo Millie bra too… it’s the only bra I can find that fits me so I have it in lots of colours!

AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds · 20/03/2025 18:39

I love the Millie too - def go to Bravissimo OP - they'll sort you out

User9088 · 20/03/2025 18:46

Bravissimo satine I think is great for wires which don't come up high in the middle. I find that even though it has a seam, it is good for under all my clothes.

faustina · 20/03/2025 19:12

It's not a balconette bra but as a 30f I find Gossard glossies really comfortable and they don't show at all under a t-shirt. They do your size I think. Hope you find something!

Bonnejournee · 20/03/2025 20:08

Thank you all!! My nearest bravissimo is quite a journey but it sounds like I just need to go and get fitted properly. Thank you for all the suggestions!

I find Curvy Kate very good for close together boobs. They do some in a 28 FF like this one .
www.curvykate.com/products/curvy-kate-superplunge-multiway-padded-plunge-bra-latte?variant=31926639493216

I'm wearing a non padded version today.

LongOutBreath · 20/03/2025 20:22

Please report back! I also find the cups are usually too far apart.

Bravissimo Niya is a great shape and has the option to cross over the straps which you might like? I just wish they did a non padded version.

I've recently bought bravissimo Samba which is a plunge without a gap at the front. Finding it very comfortable.

Oceangrey · 20/03/2025 20:22

Yes Satine is also good although I find it gives me a bit of a pointy shape. But it's a good bra.

Yes I would go to bravissimo
But if you can't then I've been told they can also give food advice over the phone and might do virtual fittings.

SapphireOpal · 20/03/2025 20:24

Another recommendation for Bravissimo Niya. Personally can't get on with the Satine as I also have narrow shoulders and the straps fall off!

ladyinthecampervan · 20/03/2025 20:30

28G here and I swear by Panache Porcelain Elan t-shirt bras although I’ve recently bought Panache 365 and they seem fine too.
I do have wider shoulders though so I’ve never had the problem with straps slipping.

i have a Freya Deco bra which is smooth cup and has a hook to make it racer back which might suit you. I don’t find it fits me as well as the panache though.

I’d recommend a visit to Bravissimo

ChaosAD · 20/03/2025 20:35

I'm a 30GG and wear Freya Idol bras pretty much all the time. They have quite a full cup and no lacy bits - nice and plain for every day. (I have prettier bras for when I'm feeling fancy shmancy!).

Whenever I go to Rigby and Peller they fit by eye - no measuring tape or +4 in sight. They usually look at you in your current bra, then check the size and look at you again with it off. 9/10 they get it right first time with the new bra they bring you, occasionally they might need to alter the cup size but I've never known them get the back wrong.

Bonnejournee · 21/03/2025 13:30

Thank you - I prefer more of a half cup style, I think they tend to look better - I always feel uncomfortable in full cup bras- I think the volume is maybe more at the bottom.

BusterGonad · 21/03/2025 23:39

The problem is that t shirt bras/moulded cup bras are notorious for not fitting well. You'll be better if looking for a smooth fabric unlined bra. I really rate Panache.

loveyouradvice · 22/03/2025 01:45

Definitely go to Bravissimo for a fitting if you can - if not, they'll do it online and are really helpful but I did find I needed to try a few sizes before finding the perfect one

I used to be a Rigby and Peller customer but Bravissimo are FAR better - more knowledgeable about larger boobs, narrow back and friendlier and less expensive. (and yes R&P didnt always get it right for me....)
