What to wear to get married in summer

I'm getting married this summer and need help! Private civil ceremony followed immediately by a church service with guests (live in Europe so has to be done that way). Then drinks in our garden, super informal. All of these elements are within 2 mins walk of each other, so no wedding cars etc just a stroll around the village in the afternoon sun... to give the general vibe.
I'm a youngish widow and both of us have young adult children, so I definitely don't want anything too bridal but hopefully still stylish and elegant. Midi length I think and no satin nighties! I'm 5'7, size 8-10 with a fuller bust so generally avoid anything that gives the mono-boob effect.
Thanks for your suggestions!

This is absolutely gorgeous! I actually like how they styled it too.

I'd be tempted to try it in the right size and a size up - might just be me but this style can make boobs quite out there, so I prefer to wear a slightly too loose size.

Love the rixo one.
Also love something like this floaty white
floral dress from Coast for something informal.

I really like this for a European wedding.

Stunning

What a lovely dress!

I don't have a link to a specific dress to suggest, but I would look at what you own and think about the shapes of the dresses you feel most confident in and then try and find one that repeats this shape but in the light materials of summer.

Super informal: white lacy gown for a grand and a half 🤣

What a nasty comment. It's a beautiful dress and OP didn't describe her budget as the person suggesting the dress acknowledged.

I know you've already ordered a dress - looks lovely btw! Was going to say, if it's not quite right or if you need help with accessories for it, I got married last Easter in a civil ceremony and had no idea what to wear. I ended up using the John Lewis personal shopping service - you give them a brief and you turn up and they already have some items picked out for you, it's in a nice private personal shopping area and you get drinks etc and it's all free! I didn't actually end up buying any of their suggestions but I bought something very similar (but cheaper) after the appointment. Would recommend!

The OP lives in Europe, @rosiegoodwin5432. Not sure the JL personal service is necessarily worth a plane or Eurostar journey …Grin

I've just this morning bought my wedding dress, so I have plenty of websites you could have a look on! I got mine from Monsoon, but other websites I looked at are below. I often searched under white dresses because there are plenty that fit the bill despite not being wedding dresses. My budget was £500. Good luck!

  • Asos
  • Rixo
  • Reformation
  • Nordstrom
  • Revolve
  • Next

  • Zara

  • My Theresa (bought a dress from them but it didn't suit me, returns were super easy and quick)
  • Free People (bought my second dress from here that I'm wearing to my civil ceremony as it's on a different day, and I love it. Quality is lovely, delivery was quick & easy.)
  • Anthropologie

That’s really lovely, and fits well with the casual, relaxed vibe you’re describing.
