Wigs - anyone with experience?

So I'd like to buy a wig, I've never used one before so no idea where to get them or how to use one, install etc.

Where do you get decent wigs that don't cost a fortune? I'm experiencing rapid and extreme hair loss after loosing weight and having my son. He's now 4 and my hair hasn't even grown an inch and Its making me self concious🫠.

I use a halo extension to add volume and length but I like wearing my hair half up and down so they can be exposed with the wind.

Any advice or online stores would be massively helpful!

I also live in the Oxford area if anyone is nearby and knows anyone who could help please!

Thank you! 💓

I just watched a tiktok video this morning of a woman going through chemo trying on various wigs she has ranging from £20/30 to £100+. They all looked amazing. I'll try and find the link.

I lost my hair due to chemo. My very best one was from shien they don't have to cost a fortune but do get your hairdresser to cut it into a better shape if it needs it

@RisetteMcG get yourself a lace front synthetic first so you can practice and get comfortable.

You'll need dry shampoo, a wig cap and band and Got2B Glued.

First, try the wig on. I suggest tying the length into a pony tail so you can see the edges all around. You'll need to adjust the band and cut around the ears likely.

Check the parting. You may need to pluck it out to look more realistic and apply some foundation to get a scalp colour match and hide the holes.

Then, find where you like it to sit on your forehead and trim the lace back.

Remove wig, put wig cap on and then put wig back on check you are happy with how it sits and how the parting looks. (You can buy a wig with a fringe if you aren't bothered by the glue stage)

Now you can secure it. Lift the front edges from ear to ear and use the Got2Be Glued directly onto your skin near the real hair line and allow to dry to tacky. Then do this again and pat the wig into place. Put the wig band on so that it is holding really tightly to the wig edges - again ear up to forehead and down to other ear. Leave for a good 20mins.

When you take the band off, you can reapply Got2be over top of the lace edging to stick any curling edges down. You may need to reband,

Apply dry shampoo to dull shiny of synthetic wig and test it all out for a day.

Once you are happy and confident in the application, you can decide if you want to pay more.

Mine was from Rene of Paris when I was having chemo, I was very pleased with it.
