Can I actually go out dressed like this?

Mum bought me a really lovely scarf thing from Paris last week. Striped vaguely ethnicy-looking in really pretty colours. I am wearing it wrapped round me as a skirt sarong-style. Comes to just above the knee. I like it but is it too naff and/or young Bearing in mind I have no nice summer skirts atm - they are all a few years old and too big and I haven't had a chance to buy any this year. My other options are jeans or work clothes

DD and DS#1 said yes but what do they know? I didn't have to do the school run this morning as the older 2 walked to school and DS#2 is at home. But I will have to venture out later.

Depends what you look like. I wouldn't, but then I feel old and fat at the moment.

OrmIrian · 13/05/2008 12:41

it sounds lovely, bet you're wearing a pretty vest top and flip flops too.

Honestly, sounds gorgeous

ormirian, i think its more a case of can you not go out in it, if your only other choice is work clothes or jeans !

im sure youll look fab

Thankyou all.

However I've now been having a closer look and realised that it's quite see-through with the light behind it. Sooo glad I checked before strolling nonchalantly in front of new ht and assorted teachers dressed in the fabric equivalent of a bit of cling film

Can you see your knickers through it though?

I've noticed lots of ladies wearing thin eg white clothes and I think they've looked in the mirror in darkish lighting, and not realised their pants are totally visible.

X posts, OrmIrian

lou33 · 13/05/2008 13:12

put a pair of shorts under it?

OrmIrian · 13/05/2008 13:14

The only shorts I have are big baggy denim jobs. Apart from my running shorts but I'm not sure that is a good look.

I really must do something about my wardrobe....

Can't do photo kerry.

Running shorts are just under the knee. Tight and black and shiny - I'd not be seen dead in them if I wasn't actually doing something energetic.

Go with it OrmIrian - sounds ideal to wear, maybe without shoes (?) for a slightly "hippy" and casual in this lovely weather. Personally I'd probably leave the knickers off unless it is REALLY see-through
