Suitcase for a luxury cruise

DM is going on a luxury cruise for a milestone birthday with a friend, who moves in different circles and is well accustomed to luxury travel. She told DM to get a suitcase that is appropriate for the occasion. DM's suitcase is fine (to me) but obviously not good enough. I want to buy her one, but have no idea what is considered in/on trend in the luggage department. It doesn't have to be designer, and I don't want to spend massively as it's not going to get a lot of use. Maybe up to £250?
Of course it shouldn't matter and wouldn't to me, but DM doesn't want to look like the poor cousin beside her friend and her circle.
Any suggestions please? It needs to be a big one, up to 30kg.

I’ve been on several cruises including regent which is slightly ‘upmarket’, in reality no one cares when you are on the ship.

I don’t think I’ve ever noticed what people’s luggage is like, or carry on or what they are wearing at dinner.

Just remember a carry on either, a wheelie or a bag to put your things in on the last morning. And to leave out something to wear on the last day.

Get her an away case.

But this is bonkers and her friend sounds horrible. No one will see her case even with a VIP experience.

I'd ignore the snotty cow.

I cruise often. I also fly business/club quite regularly (spending the kid's inheritance). I have soft sided Samsonite cases I bought in TK Maxx for an absolute pittance about 15 years ago and have never detected anyone judging me for them! They are very battered and stained now but I think that enhances my image of a well seasoned traveller. Anything new and shiny might detract from that.

Where as I think your DM's friend is a snob; I do like nice luggage.
I have some Lulu Guinness suitcases which are lovely. They have black and white stripy interiors and bags to pack your small items. Also I used packing cubes in side great for sorting clothes. One for tops one for casual trousers ect.
Also worth looking at BrandAlley which often have some vastly reduced. I like TK Maxx as well. My LG luggage was 1/2 price. I do wish I had got the cabin case as well.

YY to packing cubes

I am planning for a trip soon,
I need to make sure I don;t overpack , so making sure all separates go with several other things .
Take enough underwear but I can wash things ( I take laundry bags and detergent with me )

We don;t have flights to worry about so no weight restrictions .

@inneedofanewcase get your Mum a couple of magnetic hooks the inside of the Stateroom walls are metal . I saw a YouTube tip that you can hang things up near the balcony door/window if you just want to air it ( or dry swimwear etc) as you aren't allowed to hang things outside ( but people do)
There's a small clothes line in the shower too .
