My 15 year old daughter has had an itchy, dry sensitive scalp for a few years. She also gets eczema along her hairline.
We are looking for nice hair shampoos and treatments that may help.
She’s been to the Gp many times and usually gets dandrizol, is currently using T gel, but it doesn’t help massively and makes her long hair feel like straw.
Can anyone recommend nice products that have soothed your scalp/hairline but also been nice for your hair. She has steroid and moisturiser for the hairline but it makes her hair greasy so she doesn’t like to use it often.
Also, not massively expensive as her hair is long and very very thick.

Nizoral shampoo. To avoid the straw hair problem, apply conditioner to the ends of the hair. Then nizoral to the scalp and massage down into the forehead. Leave both on for 5mins then wash both off. This has completely resolved the same problem for me.

MooGoo shampoo is the only thing that helps my eczema on my scalp and keeps my hair feeling soft (along with conditioner). Check out their wider ranges, their creams are very effective too.

Ask your doctor about betnovate scalp application on prescription only , amazing but may not be suitable for her age/ condition. Otherwise kerastase scalp soothing shampoo. Expensive but awesome. Also the pinkeye salicylic shampoo.

The inkey, not pinkeye !

I second Moo Goo, my 16 year old has eczema and this is the only shampoo he can use, get the conditioner as well. I get ut from Amazon but you can buy direct from the company as well.

I have recently begun using this and it's really effective over a month..Not too drying.

Garnier have a shampoo with oats - is a white bottle with pink cap. It’s the only thing that soothes my scalp but after a few uses unfortunately my hair becomes really dry so there’s a lot of juggling involved. Saying that someone told me recently that aveeno now do hair products and that their shampoo was a game changer

Vosene is great, I had terrible scalp acne and it cured it. You can get it in the pound shops cheaper than the pharmacies.

Another one for Moogoo (I have minging seborrheic dermatitis and it’s really sorted it out). I also found Vichy Dercos selenium and salicylic shampoo to be good but I don’t know if this would irritate eczema.

Moogoo is gentle and doesn’t dry my already dry hair further. The conditioner is lovely for the lengths. I use this sparingly on my scalp around the hairline -

I have an itchy scalp but no dandruff. I am happy with Vosene and Body Shop Ginger shampoos. I don't want to use anything stronger in case it lifts the colour I put on!!!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I’ve ordered some moogoo to try first. Also got some body wash too because it sounds nice!
