Footwear change at wedding

My brother is getting married in 2 weeks time. All day affair at a hotel. Outfit is all ready and I am wearing a trouser suit. I had an accident a week ago and have damaged my knee. I will likely be out of my knee brace by then but in a tube grip, compression bandage. I think I might manage my heels for the ceremony and some photos (hopefully) but I fully suspect I will need to change footwear. To what I have no idea. Any suggestions? Trainers don’t seem right but then will anyone notice after dinner if I bought new ones? Wedges might work and if I saw something pretty could work all day I suppose. I am just not sure. Can you help?

this is what I am wearing.

That's a lovely suit. How about a flat pointy slingback or slip on mule. Kurt Geiger used to have some lovely ones. I don't know how to link sorry,

Buy some white trainers, preferably with lace on them . No one will notice and , if they do, they will be jealous of your comfy footwear.

I was a maid of honour at my sister’s wedding while recovering from a broken ankle. I took off my brace and changed into heels for walking up the aisle and photographs, then spent the rest of the time in trainers and my ankle brace

Nobody will be bothered if you change into trainers after dinner.
I've been to weddings where most of the women have changed into trainers or flat sandals for an evening of dancing( can't do full on ceilidh dances in heels ).
At a recent wedding, the mother of the groom disappeared after the meal and returned wearing her slippers and was very comfortable dancing the night away.
Wear what you feel comfortable in.

Anything you like!

I have worn black TOMS to a funeral and they were quite comfy. But honestly you’ve injured yourself and your health should come first. So if it’s painful to wear heels then don’t!! Wear colour matching crocs for all that it’s anyone else’s business!! (Like my dd did for my wedding as a bridesmaid lol- albeit she was 7)

I changed shoes at my friends wedding (mainly because I was running around after her and various elderly guests)
Changed into flat sparkly point toe mules.
I just left them under the table where I was sitting for the wedding breakfast and slipped them on without anyone seeing. It meant I didn't have to rush back to my room.

I've always struggled with heels due to ankle injury as a teen. At an industry do a few years ago, some of the greatest civil engineers in the country decided that I was a genius when I whipped my white converse shoes out of my bag for the dancing.

If you've got your posh shoes on for the photos, then so what if you change shoes later? Presumably people know you're injured?
