What do I wear for a job interview?

I was made redundant last September after 22 years and I'm going to have to start looking for a job soon. The last interview I had was for that job so I have no idea what to wear if I get one! I don't have any work clothes as my last job was smart casual so I wore jeans and trainers.

I'm 49, 5'6", size 18, blonde hair and generally wear a lot of pink, black and navy. Wide leg trousers don't suit me and anything skinny makes me look like a parsnip. Shoes will have to be flat as I have a problem with my foot and even if I didn't I would probably go arse over tit in heels (the foot injury was caused by me falling over thin air)! I'm looking at reception or admin type jobs, nothing managerial.

Budget is around £150 for the whole outfit - I know it's low but I'll need to buy a whole new wardrobe when I get a job!

Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm sure what you have for the video interview is fine OP! Check how look on your webcam before the interview so you can add any teams backgrounds. Good luck for Friday

I had an online interview last week and picked up a shirt dress from Tesco. I'd never wear a dress normally but it was £10 in the sale.

Best of luck for your interview.

I said nothing about jeans that no one will see on a Zoom call. Plenty of people wear jeans to work. And it is unlikely that the black and white top will leave any significant impression viewed only on a screen.

I was objecting to the garments in the Vinted photo. Regardless of what you may wear in your office they are not good enough for a face to face interview. They look faded, old and very out of date. And calling me names honestly isn’t going to change my opinion on that.

It's through Indeed's portal so I'll be checking that out tomorrow as I've never used it before. I've only got my iPad with me so fingers crossed it works ok!

for me it was pavers shoes, smart but workwear trousers but newish so seemed smart, then top half was suit and shirt, although i did wear my ex employers fleece as it kept me warm , (it seemed to puzzled the people at the interview)
