Regular attention with a foot file and moisturising cream keeps mine looking OK, although I have to admit they do sometimes show the effect of a regular lack of footwear

SixSpotBurnet · 12/05/2008 12:25

I have been filing and creaming away at mine but they still look dry. I think I need to call in a professional .

embarassed to go to a chiropodist.

CocodeBear · 12/05/2008 13:46

Flexitol also leaves slime everywhere

MrsBadger · 12/05/2008 14:01

coco they have seen far worse than yours

CocodeBear · 12/05/2008 14:12

does it hurt?

lazarou · 12/05/2008 14:15

Coco, they don't chop your feet off. They just scalpel, very gently, the dead skin away and it feels really nice.

CocodeBear · 12/05/2008 14:18

hmmm
is it a medical thing or a beauty place thing?

doggiesayswoof · 12/05/2008 14:19

Had a pedi today.

I have already been filing and flexitoling.

She said "you don't have much hard skin, you just need some hydration"

when I go to the chiropodist I do find the scalpel really tickly though.

lazarou · 12/05/2008 14:21

If you want a nice pedicure, with a massage, nail varnish etc, go and have your feet treated properly by a chiropodist first.

doggiesayswoof · 12/05/2008 14:21

Coco, start with a state reg chiropodist - not beauty salon. Or scholl shop as cod says.

lazarou · 12/05/2008 14:25

Doggie, I like that tickly feeling. Am I weird? The scalpel is the one thing I look forward to, and sometimes it catches a little and I like that too!

JackieNo · 12/05/2008 15:29

Have to say, I don't really feel the scalpel at all, but the power sander thingy really tickles.

i stocked up on Heel Balm last week.

now available in a larger tube.

use Flexitol at night and then wear cotton socks to bed.

JackieNo · 12/05/2008 15:41

Makes me squirm, it tickles so much. I always have to apologise to her/him (it's not that I'm not sure what sex they are, I'm just never quite sure who I'll see till I get there).

JackieNo · 12/05/2008 15:42

(that's the rotating sander that makes me squirm, not wearing socks to bed, btw)

CocodeBear · 12/05/2008 16:09

Is the talk of rotating sanders real? Or just to strike horror into my heart?

JackieNo · 12/05/2008 16:11

It's real, but it's just to make them extra smooth. Honest - none of this hurts - it's dead skin, so it's like having your hair cut. No feeling.

WilfSell · 12/05/2008 16:14

I thought dry cracked heels were because of some kind of nutritional deficiency (no idea what though )

I never have dry heels. But then I rarely get em out. I will refer back after the pedicurist tells me off tomorrow.

Nero · 12/05/2008 17:11

Ooh - next time I am in KL for work I am going to the fish pedicure place where the fish nibble off the dead skin on your feet

Til then, I am making do with Waitrose Bottom Butter.
