Take the plunge with hair colouring/highlights?

Greys are starting to come through, especially at the temple, and the whole colour feels a bit dull. Am a little worried about maintenance time and cost but thinking of having it coloured. Any ideas what would work best or what I should ask for?
I’ve got pale skin tone and blue eyes. Hair is thin and fine and just above shoulder length.

Following as in a similar place. Would love to go grey gracefully as it annoys me I have to spends so much money but I don’t like the feeling!

I’m following too!
same as you OP but v thick hair.
i did have an all-over semi-permanent colour a few years back which I HATED as it eventually went brassy and took months to grow out.
I’m thinking of asking for some highlights but I want just a few and very subtle. My hair is mousy brown.
Any experts know what I should ask for! I have a good hairdresser but a lot of what I say gets a bit lost in translation I think!

Yes I think probably highlights? But don't want stripey and wonder if they could do it so I only need them redoing every 6 months 😬

I would ask for 'baby lights' which are very fine highlights. Also look up 'grey blending' for inspo pics to take along to your hair stylist.

I was where you are last year. I just felt my hair was dragging me down but I didn't want the commitment of regular colouring.

I had balayage done at the 1st colouring with a root smudge. I've just had it redone (4 months later) and I've had face framing highlights and another root smudge. I think that's as low maintenance as colouring can get really.

I should add, it costs £70 (cut and blow dry included) and takes 2 hours.

And this was my hair before my 2nd colouring

Cost will depend on a few different variables. If you live somewhere where the average salary is low, then the cost of hair styling will reflect that, and if you live in the SE, the opposite will be true. It also varies from stylist to stylist and salon to salon. The more skilled and popular the stylist, the more s/he will be able to charge. Someone who's reasonably junior will be much cheaper, but also probably less skilled. A stylist who comes to your house won't have the overheads of one in a salon ... you get the idea.

As to how often you get your colour done, it's entirely up to you, but I get mine done every eight weeks and that's as long as I can go without my greys being obvious (to me, at least). My natural hair is similar to yours - quite thin, fine, naturally light brown and I'm going a bit grey at the front.
