Bumps on face and neck

I'm really embarrassed to post photos but wondering if anyone knows what these bumps are and if they are easily treated? I went to the GP last year and all she said was get a exfoliating fade wash to scrub them. They're all over my neck and now coming up my face 😭 I hate it.

Oh and the only other thing she said was do you shave there? Embarrassed that I do shave my chin hairs but don't shave on my neck!

Folliculitis?

dizzydizzydizzy · 05/03/2025 11:00

Go back and I the GP. See a different one if you can.

Lizzbear · 05/03/2025 11:01

Could they be skin-tags. I get something similar on my neck.
I'm following for advice.

Folliculitis?

That's what I was about to say. If it's bacterial you could try Hibiscrub as a wash (leave it one for 30 seconds or so), but usually a GP would prescribe something like Bactroban cream, and maybe an antibiotic.

Some people have success with apple cider vinegar diluted in water, used as a toner.

I'll look this up (Folliculitis) and try and get another gp appointment. Such a faff with having to phone up the morning you need the appointment. Not ideal when work long hours full time!

I thought it could be skin tags but there are sooo many, can that be right?

They don't look like skin tags to me but I'm not a medical professional! I have had a couple of bumps/spots that seem to have turned in to skin tags in the past though.

It's extremely frustrating to be fobbed off by GPs on skin issues - I've had this for many years and I empathise.

I wonder if they are keratosis pilaris (build up of keratin). In which case many people find AHA cream successful.

It's possible, but I think my first port of call would be Hibiscrub and changing my pillowcase every night.

Do you dye your hair, OP?

Struggling402 · 05/03/2025 18:23

Thanks again everyone. Think I need to see a gp again to try and find out exactly what it is.

@BoeufBourguig no funnily enough I stopped dyeing a year ago 🤔

Do you swim? Photos are not very clear, but possibly molluscum contagiosum. Often picked up from swimming and gym equipment. Clusters of spots.

From my memory (kids had them), they tend to be redder than that but I think they could look like yours. You'll have to look up some images and descriptions to check. If it's that, you'll need something with potassium hydroxide, like mollu-stop.

Agreed, try an AHA scrub/cream.

Oh my daughter had this several years ago! It looked a bit different from what I've got but could be a consideration.

I can’t see from the pictures have a Google of Seborrheoic Hyperplasia too while you’re searching. I have a few patches of it but it can be in lots of areas.

Lucked · 06/03/2025 01:00

They look like tiny skin tags. Increased skin tags especially on the neck can be associated with insulin resistance and pre diabetes. Is your weight and health good at the moment?

Runingoncaffeine · 06/03/2025 05:51

Looks like a build up of skin tags to me.

I have folliculitis on my legs, and it doesn’t look the same - they’ll be red usually
