Fillers?

Hi all! Has anyone had fillers in the nasolabial folds and, if so, would you mind sharing your experience? I’m 50 and feel that area needs attention, I’ve been considering it for some time but am really nervous that I’ll hate it/look completely different or lopsided etc. Plus my partner hates the idea of anything ‘unnatural’ so I would be doing it on the QT and am worried I may bruise badly. Basically I want to soften the lines up but not so that anyone would notice I’ve had filler if you know what I mean! A subtle change haha.

Any tips or tricks much appreciated or if you have a particular practitioner you’d recommend that would be great too. I live in Hertfordshire so London is within easy reach but happy to travel an hour or so for the right person.

Thank you!

It will make an instant noticeable difference- in a good way, but won’t be too obvious . You will be pleased that you had it done. 1ml is often all that’s necessary for nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Afterwards arnica cream will help to reduce any bruising

Don't do it. You will hear that it dissolves naturally over time, but this isn't always the case. Often fillers look good in photos, but you face moves in a subtly different way that's just a bit off. I wouldn't have them again.

I've just had 1ml this evening for the first time. I've paid for 2ml but wanted to ease in gently and see how I get on. Face feels numb but I can already see the lines much softer than a few hours ago. I hope I don't regret it. Will let you know if I wake up with any bruising!

I have filler twice a year for marionette line and the lines around my mouth. It's very subtle (nobody has ever noticed) but it definitely looks and makes me feel better.

I've never had any bruising.

A tiny bit for a subtle difference is all you need. I love it - no one can tell, including my partner, I just look a bit better.

That's my worry - also that it will be a slippery slope! x

I would use them as your last resort.

I don’t find fillers to dissolve personally and I’ve heard plenty of other people say there’s have been in for years. They start to migrate and look weird and then you end up paying to dissolve fillers, you paid to put in! (which also breaks down your natural HA, so can look worse then it did to start with)

have you tried micro needling with prp injected in them? Or sculptra first?

AnxiousAlicia · 09/03/2025 16:28

@GabbySolisX no, I haven't really looked into it deeply. I did wonder if there were other options that might do something similar... I'll research these, thank you!

Unless they're very shallow, good practitioners don't address NF by filling them in, but by lifting the dropped skin that's caused them. So the filler goes in the cheeks rather than the folds themselves. You may then have a tiny bit directly into the folds, but I'd be wary of anyone suggesting that as the sole treatment as all you're doing is adding bulk to the bottom half of the face (that puffy look) when what you really want to be doing is lifting your skin a bit closer to where it was before you got the folds. Push your skin up just on your cheekbones in front of the mirror and you'll see what I mean.

@AnxiousAlicia here's a 24 hour comparison. I'm glad it's subtle. Getting a top up Thursday.
