Has anyone had Invisalign as an adult after having braces as a child?

I had braces for 2 years from 14-16. Wore a retainer every night for about 5 years then less frequently (to 2 times a week). Replaced retainers about 11 years ago).

But my teeth have still moved and I'm not happy with them. They're not as bad as they were pre-braces (they were awful) but I'm wondering if the natural changes to my jaw in teens and early adulthood have caused things to shift. Everyone I know who had braces as a child now less than straight teeth now / the people with straight teeth had braces or Invisalign as an adult (or they are bloody lucky and have naturally straight teeth anyway).

I'm wondering if it's worth me getting Invisalign now (I'm 33) or if moving teeth will just be inevitable for me? Has anyone had good experiences with it after their teeth moving after braces?

DD has and she's happy with the results.

She had a functional brace on NHS but it was taken out too soon so the retainers couldn't cope. We helped her with the Invisalign about 3 years ago and she has a good result.

Yes, me. Although not long ago so time will tell whether they move again. Teeth do move forward as you age, my DH had straight teeth as a younger adult, he’d never needed braces, but they are a little bit more crowded now as they’ve moved forwards. He is 52.
Teeth don’t stay the same , even after braces. I am really glad I had Invisalign though, it was fast, easy, and I have straight teeth !

With Invisalign as well as an overnight retainer (I wear 3 times a week) I have fixed retainers on the inner sides of my teeth. Presumably that helps against movement!

I'm 54 and considering Invisalign
I think it's ok for all age groups- maybe not very elderly

Yes I had braces as a teen and Invisalign as an adult. It was easy and the results were fab - though it was expensive. I didn’t get the fixed retainer and now my teeth have moved again (around 12 years on). I did keep my last set of Invisalign as a retainer but eventually stopped using it. Better to get the fixed wires to hold the teeth in place I imagine.

Me - traintracks as they were ( are ?) called eg fixed from 13-15.6. Back in the mid 80s. Tightened once a month and I used to cry coz it was so painful. I should have been grateful to my mum but I was not.
However, no-one told me to wear a removable brace at night and by 50 they had completely gone wonky.
So I did Invisalign a couple of years ago and my teeth are pretty straight now. I feel fortunate I could afford it, it was - I thought- very expensive. I wear the retainers every night - you get used to it.

Yes I had blocks and train tracks as a teen and then a short course of Invisalign about 4 years ago. I had just my lower jaw redone and a wire placed behind those teeth- I don't wear my retainers but post Invisalign the teeth have been absolutely perfect since and I'm really pleased with the result

You can get cheaper Invisalign packages if only a few teeth need moving; mine came in at £1100 all in and only took 6 months

Yes me - had various types of braces as a child but teeth shifted so I got Invisalign in my early 30s and was totally worth it. Pricey but results were quick and very noticeable, but you have to be willing to wear the retainer at night afterwards to keep them from moving again.

I am considering Invisalign so is interesting to read your results. Could you give me an idea of costs, I appreciate it will vary depending on length of and overall treatment plan but would be interesting to see.
