Am I too old to pull off gazelles? Should my first nice pair of trainers be white?

Just that really. Have seen some blue and pink gazelles that I love but worry that in my early 40s I’ll look a bit ridiculous, a bit try hard?
also I read somewhere that a white pair of trainers is a staple. I do like white trainers but I have size 8 feet so always feel a bit enormous in them. Are veja completely out of style now? I would like to say I don’t care about looking outdated, but let’s face it I do!!

I must be the only person that thinks they are ugly!

The way i see it op is your never to old for a baby so your never to old for anything.

henlake7 · 27/02/2025 14:56

I dont think any brand of trainer are that fashionable or age specific that you cant wear them no matter your age.
well, I mean unless they have Hello Kitty on them or something.....that would be pushing it!

BitOutOfPractice · 27/02/2025 15:06

Is this yet another thread where the op disappears off? Am I imagining it or is this more common than ever on mn now? I mean I know it’s in the working day but even so! <grumpy>

borntobequiet · 27/02/2025 15:10

They’re just trainers. Anyone can wear them.

Thank you so much everyone. Right have bought the gazelles.
I just read somewhere that ‘everyone needs a pair of white trainers’. My style and size/shape has changed quite a lot since having children so having a bit of a wardrobe rethink, hence am reading lots of ‘what to wear’ and ‘capsule wardrobe’ articles.

Carry on, but don’t let the zoo keeper see you.

🤣

I bought my first pair of trainers ever that are not for sport/fitness last week.

Green Aididas Barreda Decode. I bought them because they were green.

I'm 70, but don't let that put you off.

No, me too. But as for being too old to wear trainers - they're ubiquitous at all ages.

Yes it is more common these days.

ThreeMagicNumber · 28/02/2025 21:19

Absolutely not too old! I'm 39 and have them, my sister in law has a pair with the thicker sole and she's early 50s.

BuntyCollocks · 28/02/2025 21:19

Fuck that! I’m 41, and have silver, leopard print, red and pink, pink with blue, floral - I bloody love an adidas gazelle/sl72. White’s shite, embrace colour.

JustJazzy · 07/03/2025 17:09

No age limit on trainers! White are boring, I can't remember the last time I wore white trainers. I love a pair of colourful of trainers these days, I have a weakness for trainers especially adidas and have various colours including leopard print ones.
I've been wearing gazelles for years since before they were "in", I love them. I'm 42.
