New Foundation at 63

As some of you may know the Clinique Even Better Glow foundation has been discontinued and the new one in it's place costs more at £39.00. I don't mind paying for quality but I now wonder if, at that price, it is superior to mid price products.

I like a glowy make up and not cakey. I used to use No7 before I went onto Clinique.

I am now 63 so don't want anything heavy. I fancy a tinted moisturiser as I wonder if foundation is too much now but it doesn't seem to give enough coverage.

Thank you

Sculpted by Aimee skin tint has a lovely glow and a light coverage available at most Boots about £25. I'm about to start my 2nd bottle, it's lovely

I have been using Clinique Even Better Clinical Serum. I bought a No 7 supposedly similar type last week. It is very disappointing. Going back to the clinique.

Which No7 one did you buy? Do you find Cinique is getting more and more expensive?

This one.

I can't remember what I paid for the Clinique one last time but I don't care having tried a cheaper one. Going straight back to Clinique.

I'm 64 if that helps.

I switched from Clinique even better to Clarins skin illusion and like it. I also like the Clarins skin detox which is a spf tinted moisturiser for summer. Probably not any cheaper but I usually buy when on offer.

I've seen that one and it does get good reviews. I got a sample of the No7 hydraluminous foundation at the weekend and it is nice but I think I prefer the Clinique. Don't you find Clinique is going up too much though? I don't know if you use other Clinique make up too. I use their eyeliner and lipsticks which are about £26.00 each and on top of the cost of foundation it's quite a lot, though it does last.

@pussinboots61 I don't know what I paid last time. I have just bought a new bottle for £39. I don't see how something I dislike is better value even if it is £20 less. I am sure I may feel differently if I had to watch the pennies. I think I'd rather economise on lipsticks, blusher and face powder than foundation.

Make-up, perfume and skin care is, on the whole, my one extravagance.

Clinique Foundation, chubby stick blusher and take off the day
Estee day, night and eye cream
No 7: concealer, highlighter, translucent powder and eyebrow pencil
Lancome for Mascara and lipstick

I maximise free gifts for travel sizes, lipsticks and Mascara.

If I'm honest I probably have enough lipsticks to last until I'm 90 and they can double up as blusher.

I don't do nails, facials or botox or very expensive stuff like trentonin.

Your regime sounds the same as mine. I have Clinqiue for foundation, lipstick and eyeliner and No7 for mascara and eyebrows. I do double up lipstick as a blusher too so that saves money.

When the Clinque assistant tested the new foundation on me and gave me a sample she used to the chubby stick blusher too and said that can also be used as a lipstick.

I have my hair done at the hairdressers as I like the way she colours it and couldn't get the same effect myself but as for nails, I have the odd manicure but other than that I do them myself. Skin care I like Liz Earle and I do like salon hair products but they all last ages.

Bare Pro by Bare Minerals. It’s like a tinted moisturiser with a bit more coverage.

Attictroll · 27/02/2025 08:06

I'm not far off your age and for daily wear always end up coming back to this cheaper alternative www.superdrug.com/make-up/face/bb-creams/garnier-oil-free-bb-cream-spf-20-light-50ml/p/811402?varSel=811527

Even have light for winter and medium for summer.

Enough colour but doesn't show up creases as badly
