Swapping back to box dye

Hello!
My hair appointment costs have gone up so much recently I'm considering going back to box dying my hair.
I currently have quite light highlights and my natural colour is a dark blond I would say.

Does anyone have any recommendations for brands or any tips or thoughts on this if you've done the same?
I just can't justify the price. Or maybe I ask my hairdresser to dye my hair back to it's natural colour?
Thanks!

How often are you going to the hairdresser's? I get mine highlighted 2-3 times a year and it's about £70/80 a time. I have naturally dark blonde hair as well and I get my highlights blended, but not right to the root so it doesn't grow in with harsh roots. I just use a toner in-between so it doesn't look brassy.

I wouldn't attempt highlights yourself as it's very easy to measure sit up. You also have to be careful colouring over bleached hair as you need to fill in the colour properly so it doesn't go green.

If you're happy with your natural colour maybe get your hairdresser to dye it back and just leave it.

Thank you. I'm going about every 8 weeks but it might be an idea to get the highlights toned down, blended and use a decent toning shampoo.

I should have said, if I box dye I'll go darker I think as I wouldn't attempt anything blonde or highlighted as my hair does have warmer tendencies whereas I like cooler tones - so it probably wouldn't end well!

I think I'll use my appointment in March to try and do similar to you and plan B is back to my natural colour. Thanks!!
