Eyebrows

What do you do to keep your eyebrows looking tidy?

Do you do it yourself and what products do you use?

Do you get them done in a salon and if so what is the treatment called and how much does it cost? Also how often do you need to have it done?

Mine are not tamed and need taming but I don't know where to start!

I think the treatment needed would depend on your current brows!

Are they super bushy? If so a wax and lamination might work (wax to shape, lamination to perm them into a style you like eg fluffy). Are they patchy and uneven? Then I'd go for a wax and tint (wax for shape, tint to fill in the patches).

If you get it done at a salon then sometimes you can maintain at home, if you get them waxed to a shape you like then you can maintain this by plucking out stray hairs once or twice a week as they appear - this will help it keep its shape, if you leave it a few weeks you're likely to end up over or under shaping. Tinting at home is super easy - I wouldn't laminate at home though just because it's harder to shape yourself I've found.

Tinting works well every few weeks, shaping as and when needed weekly and laminating maybe 4-6 weeks when it runs out.

Eye brow wax and maybe a tint in a salon. Usually no more than £15 every 5 weeks (ish)

rumkar · 17/02/2025 10:10

Thread brows and tint eyelashes and brows every 4-5 weeks. It makes such a difference.

telephonelady · 17/02/2025 11:30

Wax and tint every 4 weeks or so. I find threading far too painful!

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 17/02/2025 11:39

My daughters shape and tint mine every couple of weeks. They come in handy for some things!

HellofromJohnCraven · 17/02/2025 20:00

Funny enough I had mine waxed and tinted last week. I look like a different person.

Gingerisgoodforyou · 17/02/2025 20:31

Does tinting leave them very block colour? Mine are naturally a nice shape, but aging is making them simultaneously sparser with some longer thicker ones. What would get them back to my natural younger look?

I'm quite keen to avoid a thick slug look.

lechatnoir · 17/02/2025 20:36

I'd start off with a salon - thread or wax and trim. From there if they're sparse I can recommend the Benefit gimmi brow which is fab for filling and making a bit more groomed looking and finish with a clear gel (or slick of Vaseline )

If you want something more dramatic or polished then I think lamination/microblading is what you're after but it's quite a jump from that to nothing.

I use beard dye for mine and do them myself. Find beard dye actually works better than eyebrow dye.
i just use a cotton bud or a spooiie to apply the dye.
have a look on YouTube there are some videos on how to do it yourself.

Lampzade · 17/02/2025 20:44

Threading every three weeks

EllaPaella · 17/02/2025 21:14

I get mine waxed and tinted once a month and pluck them myself in between if needed.

This is what I think I'm missing out on. Decent eyebrows can really frame a face can't they.

I think I'll get it done at salon first and then look at some brow tint or beard stuff as previously suggested.

I love getting mine threaded in a salon every few months, and tidying them up inbetween myself.

I also tend to dye mine at home along with my eyelashes, very quick and easy to make them seem a bit fuller and so that I don’t have to do them when I’m doing makeup, I always feel great with no makeup on just with both dyed

Thanks for the advice (and sorry for jumping on your post op!). I might try a brow definer and ask at a salon about tinting.

No definitely not. I've got naturally fairly thin and light brows. I absolutely do not want the thick brow / slug look. They just tint the hairs that are there, so can't make them look any bigger than they are!

Hullabalooza · 18/02/2025 16:40

I laminate my own at home using the brand Sassy saints, have done it 8 or 9 times now at intervals of 6 weeks and it’s great. I had a brow lamination at a salon the first time. It’s really not that hard to do yourself though, and far more cost effective. I then tint around every 3 weeks, use an eyebrow pencil if needed (usually when your next tint is due) and benefit gimme brow to set.

redstripestar · 19/02/2025 02:23

Mine have grown and gone a bit crazy.

I use a brow brush from Elf - one end brushes them and the other end allows me to pencil into any unevenness. Helps them look fluffy. I also have a brow mascara from Elf. Both are good to be honest. I did try the Elf brow laminator to get them to stay put - fuck that, half my eyebrow fell out.

I try not to tweeze them much. Just a little tidy up.

I've recently started dying them with the supermarket brow dye every couple of weeks as they seem to be going blonde (I have brown hair).

I have in the past had them threaded and dyed. It does look good, I just CBA 😂

The Elf brow pencil is really good for fluffy brows - no sign of slugs.

You can get different shades of tint. I use brown but my brows are dark brown. Looks very natural.

Tarkan · 19/02/2025 02:34

The woman I go to for my nails is also great at brows so every second nail appointment (so every 6 weeks) I've been getting a wax while waiting on the previous nails to be soaked off). I've finally admitted there are too many greys sneaking in now though so getting them tinted from my next appointment onwards now too. It's quite handy that I can get both nails and brows sorted at the same time. Grin

litttlepurplecaravan · 19/02/2025 02:50

Wax and tint every 4-6 weeks. £15 and makes a huge difference.

No slug look.

That's caused by other treatments and procedures.

A basic wax and tint just enhances the natural eyebrow. Tidies the shape and fills gaps by colouring the fairer/tiny hairs to make them less sparse looking.

litttlepurplecaravan · 19/02/2025 02:50

I also buy a diy home tint kit to keep ontop of it between treatments.

Lovelydovey · 19/02/2025 03:33

I dye mine every few weeks - they're already dark but it helps with the smaller thinner hairs at the start. I also shape myself.

Chuchoter · 19/02/2025 04:56

I now do mine myself at home. Small amount if tweezing. I dye them once a month.

Sometime I use a brow pencil and I used a mascara wand that I spray hairspray on and then come through brows.

I think this is the mi mail effort I'm looking for to take enough difference to make it worthwhile.
