Help! Snowsuit for a toddler for nursery

BeaLittleBraver · 15/02/2025 15:14

Help! I am so confused! I need a toddler snowsuit so my son can go outside at nursery (they have forestry school). I want ot to be warm, waterproof, brand isn't important but quality is. I wouldn't want to spend more that £35 on it. Do not like next.... so wondering between H&M, DECATHLON, mountain warehouse and Frugi. Have no idea how to tell if it is going to be warm enough for him.

I want to avoid supermarket brands as bought him a puffy coat from George Asda and after a first wash it was pretty much ruined as all the filling just clumped together.

Getting snowsuit wearing children at nursery to the toilet in time is a bloody nightmare. Just saying. If they are still in nappies no problem.

Either look at mountain warehouse/go outdoors type shops in the sales or buy a good quality one second hand.

If you need it to be waterproof you're better off looking at "outdoor" kind of brands

I used to get my DDs waterproof trousers from Aldi, they were great quality

rosydreams · 15/02/2025 15:26

for nursery i get stuff from vinted that way i didn't spend to much on something she was gonna role in the mud in .puddlesuit or splashsuit also words to look for

Bloodybrambles · 15/02/2025 15:30

There’s currently 70% off at Mountain Warehouse.

I wouldn’t bother with the likes of H&M as they’re likely to be water resistant at best.

Have a look on vinted for Wet Wednesdays fleece lined all in one. They are £48 new but looks like around £20 on vinted. Something like this - https://www.vinted.co.uk/items/5733856166-wet-wednesdays-fleece-lined-all-in-one-2-3years They are brilliant.

We've also had super waterproof trousers from Lidl that you could put with a waterproof jacket but i don't know whether they have any coming in stock soon.

KnickerlessFlannel · 15/02/2025 15:43

We've used the lidl separate ones for forest school and they were fab. Got them even cheaper on vinted - the brand is lupilu if you want to search

Purplerain1144 · 15/02/2025 15:47

We had a h&m one when my daughter was around 16m ish and it was brilliant and totally waterproof with a fleece lining

Didrikson is the only good enough brand for forest school

My kids went full time to a forest school nursery.

2 parter. Trousers with braces. And jacket. Much easier for toilet trips.

Good quality merino wool layers underneath. And a fleece layer.

Start each day with at least 3 layers under the jacket and trousers.

And a good quality hat with ear flaps.

Oh. And lots and lots of mittens (they get wet quick and lost. So buy 3 pairs the same)

incognitomummy · 15/02/2025 15:54

For Didrikson - Check out eBay. Vinted. & FB market place for 2nd hand.
And ask on local fb groups.

In fact I have some we have grown out of - what age is your child? I'll see what I have available.

Spudalot · 15/02/2025 16:00

We’ve had them from Tu, regatta, M&S and all been fine. But second what others say - buy it on Vinted!! Bargains for nursery clothes etc.

Pigeon123456 · 15/02/2025 20:23

I've bought several second hand from JoJoMamanBebe on Vinted, all barely worn and for much less than your budget. I think they're fantastic, fleece lined and waterproof.

EmmasDilemmas · 15/02/2025 20:25

I would get a muddy puddles scamp suit on vinted. They are brilliant. Warm and waterproof.

doyouknowthemuffinman42 · 15/02/2025 20:31

What size?

I have a few designer ones (boy)

Geneticsbunny · 16/02/2025 10:41

I agree with others that separates are better. They are easier to take on and off and last longer as they have more space to grow.

No one pieces are best for keeping snow and wet out of backs etc

mamagogo1 · 13/09/2025 23:05

whatever the brand, check they are actually waterproof, ideally 10,000 hydro rating. Proper outdoors shop is preferable or second hand. For the U.K. (unless rural Scotland maybe) i would buy a puddle suit or separated then layer fleece underneath rather than a snowsuit because it’s rarely cold enough to need a full snowsuit and the snowsuits tend not to be that waterproof

Geneticsbunny · 14/09/2025 07:54

@Ykk81 we had waterproof dungarees with a ski jacket over the top so no issue with snow going down the back and the waterproof dungarees were good for keeping clothes clean when the weather was warmer too.
