Hypocritical beauty rules that irritate you!

Mine is how people always boast of never using heat on their hair, but get it coloured every 6 weeks Grin

Looking down on people who use tanning products but seem chuffed about their 'naturally' scorched cell damage.

I stopped blow drying my hair 5 years ago as I fell for the myth that leaving it alone would make it shinier, healthier and longer. It didn't change a thing. I had the same amount of split ends (regardless of trims) and insane frizz. Recently went back to blow drying a few time per week and my hair is smoother and easier to manage now.

Not quite the same but in the 90s it always bugged me that women were berated for having facial hair but also shamed for how they got rid of it.

People who insist you should never under any circumstances wash your hair daily.

Every time I go to a hairdresser, they comment on how healthy and long my hair is. Then they will ask how I wash it and I tell them I use a cheap shampoo with sulphates every day. Then they immediately tell me I shouldn't wash my hair every day as it's damaging!! After just complimenting my healthy hair.

I known it's a small thing but I grew up greasy and with a Mediterranean mother who also has no shortage of hair oil. I spent years thinking I was doing something wrong by needing to wash my hair daily, only to realise it's fine and normal and my hair won't all fall out.

Now I wash and dry it daily and it's never looked better or been healthier.

None of these things is hypocritical.

Not not sure about hypocritical, it is more about one size do as I do evangelists

@WhatIsCorndogs I would add the don't use anything silicone brigade. My hair loves silicone. Thankfully my hairdresser firmly believes that that works for one doesn't necessarily work for another.

The curly cult is weird, because every curly or wavy person does not have the same hair type! I am porous, wavy, fine and frizzy. My hair loves silicones and sulphates!
It frizzes up after one hour in the evening so buying a silk pillowcase and sleeping in a silk cap wouldn't make a difference!

There are some odd rules and a good bit of judging.

I made a post on here a few years ago about it and was told (to the point of harshness) that I was damaging my hair by just washing and conditioning.
Same people advised me to bleach it, lol.
