Top needed for appearance on camera

I'm being filmed for something next week and need a new top. Not white, not stripes, not small check which can make camera go funny. Planning on wearing these black trousers from M&S and a pair of boots. https://www.marksandspencer.com/jersey-straight-leg-trousers-with-stretch/p/clp60506862 I shall probably be sitting down so you won't see my bottom half anyway. I also have these trousers in grey.

Have £50 voucher to spend in John Lewis so that's the budget for a top. Needs to be a work/office style top, don't want anything tight fitting, must have sleeves, size 14. Too much to choose from on website - any personal shoppers out there with any recommendations?

I don’t know your colouring but this has some interesting features (subtle!) that will stop it looking boring and flat on camera:

I just ordered the last one of these in my size, thank you!

I have a grey blouse with cream spots that works well on camera, so maybe something down that line? An yes, stripes are a definite no go!

If I had to wear something on camera i would look at something Alex Jones or Rita Chakrabati are wearing. Wouldn't go for anything patterned. Think patterns always look a bit meh on TV.

How do it go OP?

CharityShopChic · 11/03/2025 19:22

Well - thank you! There was a bit of last minute toing and froing with the production over whether we'd be inside or outside and bearing in mind it was February I canned the idea of a thin blouse/top and went for a dark green woolly jumper, dark jeans and boots. And when I turned up to film, the other person I was going to be on camera with was wearing a dark red woolly jumper, jeans and boots - so perfect.

Oh lovely to hear it went well and outfit a triumph.
Bonus to complement each other too.
