Hair straightener recommendations

I have thick, wavy, frizz-prone hair and I rarely straighten it because the straighteners I have are 20+ years old, a bit broken and my hair doesn't stay straight! I'm fed up of my hair looking like a bird's nest though so I thought I could treat myself to some good straighteners and I need recommendations. The brand I hear about most often is GHD, I have also seen that Cloud 9 is from the creators of GHD, plus I also saw the Dyson Airstrait which is a bit different from a traditional straightener but looks sooo good (giant plug isn't an issue for me). I am quite lazy and not very talented when it comes to hair so I want something that's easy to use and will do all the hard work for me 😊

I don't know much about hair straighteners. When my 20 year old GHDs died I got some Cloud 9s on the recommendation of my hair dresser. I'm happy with them. They do the job well. I can't really compare them to anything else that's on the market thought.

The GHD Chronos. I just bought some of the new wide plate ones. Was reluctant about spending that much, but omg they were worth it. Absolutely unreal, best straighteners I've ever used. My hair is a nightmare and so hard to manage but they made my hair look like I'd had a blow dry at the salon! They're brilliant

I know this thread is a few months old. I have owned Cloud 9 and currently own GHD Platinum + and I advise you buy neither. I have heard very mixed things about the Dyson, mostly people with frizz prone hair being disappointed.

The cloud 9 straighteners I owned had only a few temperature settings, the lower ones didn't effectively straighten my wavy frizz prone hair at all. The higher temperatures literally made my hair come out in clumps and the steam they produced. My hair was so hot I actually burnt myself touching it. I had a bit of a run in with Cloud 9 customer services and eventually they agreed I could return them for a refund. This put me off ever trying them again.

As for my GHD's I have had them for around 3 years, they are very light and heat up very quickly. They do not leave my hair frizz - free and my hair doesn't stay straight either. If I use them frequently they seriously fry my hair and you are unable to adjust the temperature on GHDs. One time I went to my hairdresser and she said 'you need to turn the heat down on your straighteners, your hair is heat damaged.' Also the hinge is a bit dodgy, so I rarely use them anymore.

Depending on your budget, Remington is a good brand and one I used for many years but they don't last that long as they start to over heat and the plates get hot spots but they are cheap. T3 is another one I have heard good things about.
My hairdresser uses Coriolis and they do a good job on my hair, she swears by them but you can only get them on Amazon. They aren't that easy to find.

I have straighteners on my Xmas list and it will either be T3 or Coriolis.

I've got the Dyson Airstrait , my hair is fine and wavy , delicate . So I don;t want heat .
It works really well , gives me swishy hair .
You're right about the plug though , it's a bloody pain, I took mine on holiday and couldn't use it in the plug socket .
