DD and split ends all over

Is there a technique that gets rid of split ends which are quite high up the hair shaft?
If so, what is called?
DD wants to keep her long hair and saw something about 'dusting'. But I went to a local hair dresser and they said they couldn't do it.
Any advice appreciated.

You can't repair split ends if that's what you are asking.

Dusting is still cutting the split ends off isn't it?

I'm no expert but I think dusting is something you do at home because you are pretty much looking at every single strand of hair and cutting it accordingly. It might take a week!

If her hair is breaking and splitting all along the hair shaft then the hair is getting damaged somehow. Do you/she brush it wet? Dry with microfibre or regular towel? Lots of straightening?

I just saw this about split ends which I thought might interest you. Watch to the end as she found heat helped the product work.

There are 2 techniques and her hairdresser should do both, occasionally . You twist very small sections at the front and that exposes them, and they are trimmed. Surface dusting can use bigger sections, and hairdresser needs to be skilled so as to not catch her knuckles.

Thank you.
She doesn't brush hair while it's wet. She doesn't use straighteners l. She uses this long thing which she twists around it to give it some waves. Its covered in material and she has to keep it in for hours- so only on a non school day.
I'll go into different hairdressers on our high St until I find one who can do this technique that @Oblomov25 mentioned.
