I've had a KS bag for a it 3 years and use it almost daily. It's been great, no wear and tear or colour change.

Jacobeen · 31/01/2025 14:17

Nice hard wearing. I’ve got several I have had for ten plus years

Hoppinggreen · 31/01/2025 14:19

I like it
Its kind of mine and DD's "thing" but I usually buy at one of the outlets.
We both have some cute bags, jewelry and I have a dress

Ohhhthedrama · 31/01/2025 14:27

It's not a 'high-end' brand, but they do have some really nice bags, and they wear well.

Purplecatshopaholic · 31/01/2025 14:29

I have a large tote one I use for work. It’s worn well and still looks great.

Feels odd to see how a person can turn into a brand and then get completely dissociated from the person. Kate Spade killed herself in 2018.

I have a black KS saddle bag (bought 50%off in a sale!) which is my main handbag and I must have had it 3-4 years. It's been in a rainstorm, it's been in the summer Roman heat, it's been all over England with me and it's still going strong. Apart from the lining shrivelling slightly after the rainstorm, no visible wear nor tear. 10/10, would buy this brand again.

Yeah I agree. The quality is okay for the price point, but it's owned by the same company that owns Coach now who are trading off her name even though she's dead. Personally it puts me off buying one.

I used to think so but I went to look a their dresses and saw they wanted over £200 for a 100% polyester dress I could have got from Primark and walked out the shop.

CoastalCalm · 31/01/2025 15:32

for me the brand is devalued by the cheap bags for sale in US outlet places

Like Laura Ashley - but we kept buying her stuff for years after her death.

My main bag is KS. I got it in TK Max

Newfoundzestforlife · 31/01/2025 15:57

Great brand, My Kate spade bag is one of my most loved and well used bags, still looks perfect after 3 years, I use it for errands and dog walks.

TheChosenTwo · 31/01/2025 16:02

I bought a black camera bag, liked it but the metal inside the sort of piped edge managed to work its way out causing a hole - so I don’t think I’d be tempted to get another.
It was a plain black bag with a tiny spade on it, I don’t like big branding on things but this was a nice and discreet logo.

SingingSands · 31/01/2025 16:08

Yes, KS is a decent brand. I've got three bags and really love them. I've also got a Coach bag, which is their sister company. I can't tell a difference in quality between the brands, all the bags are excellent.

The fact that Kate Spade has sadly passed away under tragic circumstances is not relevant. The brand carried her name. Gordon Selfridge of Selfridge’s fame died in 1947. It’s still called Selfridge’s.

Overtheatlantic · 31/01/2025 18:38

KS was hugely popular in the USA in the late 90s. Very preppy, good quality. Not sure about now.

rainythursdayontheavenue · 31/01/2025 19:02

All my Kate Spade bags went to the charity shop after they paid that twerp Dylan Mulvaney to promote them.

I went into one of their stores last week, I was bored after work so was carrying my standard backpack and looked a bit tired I suppose. I got a full on snooty head to toe look down and nose flare from the sales person as I walked in. I probably would have bought a bag, I did like one, but it put me off.

Very tempted to pretty woman them next week and go in with 20 handbags from better brands.

My young adult daughter found a gorgeous Kate Spade tote in a thrift shop here in the US a few weeks ago. She was delighted, so maybe KS is making a comeback. I had a few decades ago and they were nice.

Her family decided after her death to raise money for charity through a relationship with MIND, so Kate Spade products are sold in MIND charity shops to raise money for mental health charities. You can get some good bargains too.

It's relevant to some, and that's okay.

All designers die but their name continues. Chanel? YSL?

I feel KS is like Michael Kors. It at least the MK part of Michael Kors. Sort of top end high street

Mainline Michael Kors is beautiful and priced accordingly

Coco Chanel’s dead. Christian Dior is dead. Enzo Ferrari is dead. That’s the nature of a brand.
