In the last few months I’ve become very embarrassed by my neck area. It looks terrible and is so lined! I could cry. What can I do?

Accept that your body will change with age?
Work hard on developing your inner resources so you don't get fixated on superficial and unimportant things?
Remember that anyone who is going to look at your neck and judge you because of it is a shallow twat and you ought to be grateful to them for giving themselves away so that you don't waste your precious time on them?
Waste money on creams, beauty treatments and cosmetic surgery in a vain attempt to stop time?

Thank you for this. I was expecting someone to suggest a cream or something, but this was better by far- a reality check. I have body dysmoprhia so I have a tendency to fixate on flaws

Agree with PP...I find the best thing to do is just totally own your flaws and accept them (even if you dont feel it, fake it til you make it!!).

Im not thrilled with my wrinkly neck and wobbly belly but I just wear what I want and try to feel good about myself.
Thing is our flaws are never as noticeable to other people and even if they were everybody is too busy worry about what they look like themselves!

MoSalahsBeard · 30/01/2025 15:00

I’ve got a wobbly tummy too. I like chocolate too much!

A longer hairstyle will mean a shadow is cast upon your neck and so the wrinkles are not so visible. Ditto wide brimmed hats in the summer. The other thing is we move about in real life so the view people get is not from the most unflattering angle. If someone is taller than you they won't be looking up at your chin. Also other things will take people's attention, they won't just be staring at your neck.

eyestosee · 30/01/2025 15:34

Just looked at the photo again and you'd have to be cradling someone's head in your lap to get that sort of angle!🤣

Most of my wobbly bits are due to extreme weight loss. My neck wrinkles actually go the opposite way to the OPs.
Its funny coz I never realiesed I even had a super fat neck until I was left with loads of loose skin there!!LOL

LoafofSellotape · 30/01/2025 16:12

I lost a lot of weight and my neck looks like a deflated balloon. I miss my lovely smooth neck I had in my 20's but I'm in my 50's now and considering I've lost many friends to illness over the years I'm trying to see wrinkles as a privilege.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 30/01/2025 16:15

I have a neck like yours, and honestly, I've just learnt to accept it.

I have however recently started using the Palmers firming and toning lotion on my body, and I am seeing some results on my arms, C section pouch, and inner thighs, so I might start putting some on my neck too, but I'm not expecting miracles from it.

Our bodies do just change. Unless you're willing and wanting to drop thousands of pounds on surgical procedures, you'd do better to remind yourself that your body has served you well, and it's absolutely fine just the way it is.

StartingOverIn2025 · 30/01/2025 19:03

First of all, I wish my neck looked as good as yours. Second of all... that's all actually.

Sunbeam01 · 30/01/2025 19:24

Your neck is perfectly fine!

I had to do a double take - thinking I missed something and needed to zoom in.

I have worked out (with absolutely no scientific evidence other than comparing my neck with friends) that we all seem to get a new line with every decade of age e.g. 3 lines = 30 - 39 years old.

You can get filler for neck lines which are very effective however, in your case, I genuinely do not think you need them at all.

Lovethatforyouhun · 30/01/2025 19:55

Don’t buy Prai neck cream in a panic…it doesnt work!!!

monsterfish · 30/01/2025 20:05

This is life - your neck looks fine. But just remember the skin on your neck is as delicate and exposed to the same elements as your face. Keep your neck moisturised and apply spf - just as you would your face.

Dollychopsporkchops · 30/01/2025 20:11

Don’t waste your money on creams.

You’re going through the natural aging process and what you have is loose skin and possibly loose muscle and glands(possibly). All natural, normal and beautiful.

No cream despite what they advertise, can lift and combat the effects of gravity.

gingerlybread · 30/01/2025 20:12

Retinol night cream. Any kind will make a difference to the surface texture of your neck skin.
Your neck is perfectly fine but anyone using this will see an improvement.

If she’s insecure about her neck, adding filler to her neck will make it look fuller

Buy an at home electronic micro-needling device, I have the Dr Pen A6 and would recommend (it’s a few years old now), I use it on my face and neck to build collagen, you don’t notice results immediately but if you use it every couple months you will notice the difference after 9-12 months and the results are long lasting
Its not a miracle worker but definitely makes a difference and stops further degeneration

Back21970 · 30/01/2025 23:20

Focus on SPF and moisturiser so it doesn’t get any worse - I don’t think it’s actually that bad.

I’ve read on here that Vaseline on your neck can improve the look - I do it sometimes at night, worth a go as mega cheap.

Face yoga may also be worth a try for toning.

Ive had Botox on my vertical neck lines and there was an improvement but would need done every 6 to 9 months so could get expensive.

I’m surprised how many people have came on and said just accept it - this is S&B, I’m assuming the OP is looking for some suggestions not a comment on her state of mind 🤣

Bodenne · 30/01/2025 23:23

You need to moisturise every single night and in the morning, lose weight and stop drinking

Edited

It doesn't - it looks fantastic. Google before and after photos - takes years off and there is no way anyone would suspect you've had work it's so subtle.

Of course, you do need to pay for a professional to get the desired results.

doublec · 31/01/2025 01:06

OP, no-one looks at you as critically as you do yourself. Also, lighting, shadows and the angle will undoubtably effect the way your neck looks not only in this picture, but when you're looking at yourself.

Also, read the Nora Ephron book mentioned above, it's wonderful. Just the tonic.

Miserableneck · 09/06/2025 11:21

Hi, I have the same issue as you, it’s so depressing. Have you found anything to help? Mines happened over night.

HarrietBond · 09/06/2025 11:25

How many other woman have you ever looked at and thought 'wow, her neck looks awful'? Chances are the answer to that question is none! We see this stuff in ourselves and no one else is noticing or caring.
