Clinique 'Take The Day Off' Cleansing Balm

I recently switched to this when REN discontinued my favourite cleanser. I'm impressed with how well it removes every scrap of make up, but there's no denying my skin has felt much drier and tighter.

Anyone else noticed this? Really unsure which cleanser to try next?

I liked the oil /water version of this . Not sure if it’s still around .

BashfulClam · 28/01/2025 19:17

I like the body shop camomile butter one.

BeaLola · 28/01/2025 19:24

I like the Lisa Eldridge cleanser and also The Ordinary squalane cleanser plus The Votary geranium oil cleanser

I use ones by The Beauty Crop which are much cheaper and never cause any tightness. I have fairly reactive skin that’s prone to dryness and skin always feels moisturised with this one. I use all 3.

I find the Boots cleansing balm just as good as the Clinique and a lot cheaper.

I found the same thing with Clinique so bought the Elemis one and that leaves my skin feeling lovely.

Tried a million versions of the solid cleansing balm and the only one that my acne-prone ultra-sensitive peri face gets on with is the first I tried: Eve Lom.

I’ve used this for years and spray with Evian after then moisturise and it’s never felt tight or dry - my skin is on the oiler side though.

I am always on the look out for a cheaper dupe as it is getting really expensive, however all the balms
seem to be scented, which I hate.

Read the Elf one was really good on here but again contains fragrance.

Might check out the Boots one when I run out.

I agree, fur a balm cleanser it is drying. My favourite is eve lom, but it's expensive. The balm cleanser from The Ordinary feels just a good to me a the eve lom.

I got it as a free gift, but I don’t much like it. The Elemis pro-collagen balm is nicer.

My go to is Dermalogica pre-cleanse. It’s an oil and the best I’ve used.

Pigeonqueen · 29/01/2025 08:06

The Body Shop one is hands down the best one. (I used to work for Clinique)!

Pancakeflipper · 29/01/2025 08:08

Try Elemis.

I prefer a lather up wash but have used their balm and never noticed dryness (and I have dry skin).

Onanotherhealthkick · 29/01/2025 08:17

Face Theory Vitamin C cleanser - it’s lovely.

Pinkdaisie · 29/01/2025 08:22

The Clinique one stings my eyes. I like the body shop one but my favourite is Elemis.

Beauty Pie have just brought out a new one called Happy Face which is a gel/balm texture in a 400ml pump bottle for £12. I'm quite impressed with it so far, it has oat and centella in it so it's gentle and soothing.

LoafofSellotape · 29/01/2025 09:08

ELF balm is what you need, amazing stuff and I've tried them all over the years.
