Curl by curl haircuts

Are they worth it? I have super thick, frizzy hair somewhere between wavy and curly ( 2 c maybe). I have a curl by curl stylist near me with prices starting from £90. I am cheap so usually pay less because it doesnt seem to make much difference with my hair.

I go to one and yes it’s worth it. Your price is also cheap by comparison!!

I’ve had a couple, and I’m going to say no, not really. What for me makes a huge difference is having your hair cut by someone who has curly hair themselves. They really understand how curls react in a way straight-haired people, no matter how well-trained, just don’t.

It was really worth it for me, though that's more than I spent. Happier than ever with my hair

Yes very worth it.
I’ve had curl by curl cuts for over 10 years now and stylists vary, some are fabulous cuts that last 5/6 months others less good so it depends on the skill/experience like any other hairdresser really.

But the key difference is that I never walk away unhappy…whereas I’ve been in tears after having my curls/waves cut by high street Hairdressers who have no clue.

It’s worth a try at least once (I have 2C/3A waves and curls).

My hair is the opposite of yours, OP, very frizzy but extremely fine and now thinning. My previous hairdressers all cut it too short - they never understood how tightly it curled up as soon as i went out into the damp air.

I now go to a curly hair specialist and it's much better, but I only pay £55 for cut and shampoo, £30 for just the dry cut. I only go three times a year as it holds its shape better.

i would agree with pp to give it a try.

Ok, consensus is that I should give it a try. Thanks. I am in London so obviously expensive.

Yep, not me but one of my kids has had this since teenage years. Such a difference. Dry cut curl by curl (instructed to make it when hair due to be washed which is every two weeks for their hair type). Takes 3hrs, so they allow half a day essentially, and costs them equivalent of 150 pounds. Enormous difference in their hair once they swapped to this, absolutely worth it.
