Monderma prescription for pigmentation

I have received the below from Monderma - my main concern was pigmentation.

Has anyone had similar? The Tret seems very low and I put on my form that I didn’t have sensitive skin. I have previously used Dermatica and the prescribed Tret & hydroquinone ( the Tret was 0.5 )

I have used Niacinemide at that strength OTC before.

Tretinoin 0.01%: a vitamin A based retinoid that speeds up skin cell renewal to shrink pores, clear spots, and smooth fine lines.

Azelaic Acid 3%: an anti-inflammatory agent that blocks irritable molecules to reduce redness, calm inflammation, and lighten patches of darker skin.

Niacinamide 2%: a vitamin B3 based antioxidant that strengthens the skin’s barrier function to lock in moisture and boost suppleness.

I’m sure you could increase the tretinoin. Hydroquinone is more effective than azelaic acid for pigmentation but can cause peeling if you don’t mind. Did you mention you'd worked up to 0.05% tret? Lower strengths are just as effective but take longer to show results. I guess it’s a trade-off between faster results and dealing with some peeling. I also opt for higher strength.

Unfortunately I am unable to get hold of anyone at Customer Services and I can’t log in to my account for some reason..

I wanted hydroquinone really as that’s what I used before, although it did cause quite a bit of peeling. I have only paid £5.99 so may try it for a month and see how it goes.

Why not reach out to them? I think you’ll get good results as my eldest daughter has a very similar prescription to you( also from Monderma) and can see gentle fading of a few irregular areas of pigmentation. Azelaic acid works in a similar way to Hydroquinone from what I’ve researched - fading pigment accumulated in the skin - but is better suited for long term use. Hydroquinone is an ‘on/off/on’ ingredient which can’t be used for long periods of time without a break. The lower strength Tretinoin will definitely still do its magic in turning over new skin cells, so don’t worry too much about that.

I have tried to contact them but no response and I can’t log in to my account at all.

Maybe consider switching the azelaic acid back to hydroquinone.

Azelaic and tranexamic acid are both effective for pigmentation though and safer for long term use.

A friend of mine cleared 90% of her sun spots this winter using HQ at 4%.

They emailed this afternoon and after a quick chat have recommended putting me on hydroquinone and 0.25 Tret from my next shipment.

They have been really helpful so that’s a positive 🙂

That's good. Hopefully it starts to clear for you.
They are about as strong as creams get.
