I feel like I need a great vitamin c under eye cream

Can anyone recommend one that works?!

I think when I have previously used eye creams they've basically just been overblown moisturisers so I'm looking for ingredients that actually do something, I thought vitamin c might be brightening

This Medik8 vitamin C serum is good for a low to medium over the counter strength undereye cream. £24

For medium to high prescription strength consider Monderma or Skin+Me custom formulas with tretinoin and hydroquinone. £24/£30

Both brighten the undereye area depending on the desired speed of results and severity of shadow/dark rings.

Medik8 for sure!

Likely the best over the counter retinol brand.

And prescription skincare is even more effective but you get peeling.

Drdoing · 23/01/2025 11:14

I already use prescription retinol but not under my eyes as it's too strong. I guess I can see if there's something more gentle

I still go back to Nivea Q10. Have tried others but nothing works as well for me.

Do you feel it helps circles or wrinkles or puffiness or all?

I am a bit prone to circles and have a few lines- crow's feet.

The biggest thing for me that makes a difference is diet, sleep and exercise, and alcohol definitely puffs my face up.

But yes, I do notice a difference certainly between not using Q10 and using nothing or using less good creams, to skin texture and a brighter appearance.

I'm also taking marine collagen but will have to report back as it takes a few weeks to have any effect.

I got the Ren Brightening Dark Circle eye cream in an advent, I wasn’t sure I’d like it, but I’ve seen a huge difference, so much so that I’ve repurchased ( there are some on Vinted for much less than rrp!)

Origins GinZing seems to make an actual difference to my dark circles

CoQ10 orally?

Honestly if your concerns are puffiness, wrinkles or dark circles, no eye cream on the planet will fix any of those. The change in the appearance of the eye is due to thinning skin, declining collagen, bone resorption and gravity, dropping the fat pad that sits under your eyes creating a puffy appearance. Only surgery will correct any of those. By all means care for the skin in that area but don't waste your money on products that claim to erase any signs of ageing

Drdoing · 24/01/2025 15:19

Well yes ok thank you that's cheerful 😀 I know an eye cream won't do a lot I was just looking for a little pick me up really

I second tretinoin 0.025% at night, and vitamin C 23% in the morning for brightening.

The NHS won't prescribe tret for cosmetic reasons. Brands like Monderma sells tubes for £12. And try Ordinary's vitamin c.

This is the kind of honesty that I need, and will save me money, lol.

Op don’t hate me for asking this but just wondering if you drink a lot of water and get enough sleep? 44 and don’t mind my wrinkles (at the mo they look like laughter lines), but I get horrible black circles and mt eyes are very sensitive, cerave is great to soothe them and Nars creamy concealer is pretty magic!

Low-sugar diets with few ultra processed foods are also important. High levels of inflammation is meant to expedite wrinkles.
