Do those sundresses with the crinkly elastic tops suit large norks or not?

I like this dress for the summer but I am big up top and am not sure if it is going to look ghastly or not?

Advice please.

I bought a similar one from H & M at the weekend. I think as long as the elastic bit covers your bazookas and doesn't stop halfway down them it should be fine.

I like mine anyway.

MrsBadger · 06/05/2008 10:45

ghastly, sorry

only for the svelte, braless and

Pinkjenny · 06/05/2008 10:47

MrsB - I am 30 and take great offence at that .

I'm wearing a strapless bra with mine.

bobsyouruncle · 06/05/2008 10:48

agree they are lovely on the young and very slim and braless. Which rules me out but possibly not you

FunkyGlassSlipper · 06/05/2008 10:51

What I thought? But I just want a nice easy to wear dress. I'm feeling all dowdy at the moment. Spent a while sorting out my winter wardrobe but now the weather has improved I'm reallising my summer wardrobe is not up to scratch.

I normally wear skirts, and v-neck tshirts or vests.

Lol.I just got an error on your linksdue to high visitor numbers so I'll look at them in a min.

no
monoboob!!!

Miggsie · 06/05/2008 10:53

the elstic crinkly bit imprints on your skin so you look like corrogated cardboard after a day of wearing them.
Also, they ride up and if you pull them down too fast you get to flash everyone.
Designed by fashion designers who think girls should actually have the same physique as boys

MascaraOHara · 06/05/2008 10:54

I would say I have a good chest, I bought one a couple of years ago and it just looks hideous on me..

I think they suit the waif types and those who look like they've just got out of bed, thrown on the first thing that's comes to hand and still look fabulous.

StillWaters · 06/05/2008 10:54

Not.

I have large norks, I like the dress but wouldn't wear it as I know it wouldn't suit me.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 06/05/2008 10:56

Ok, So find me a nice dress then.

I am 5'2" with big norks.

MrsBadger · 06/05/2008 10:57

second new look one I linked too - the embroidered one

first one is too long if you are 5'2"

bethoo · 06/05/2008 10:58

must be a v neck though not necessarily plunging and have you thought of an empire line perhaps? there are lots of nice floaty feminine ones around. i am in same boat though preggers so looking for a dress too that i can grow into!

bethoo · 06/05/2008 10:59

or a nice wrap over dress. pull you in at waist too to give va va vroom shape!!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 06/05/2008 11:02

I like that one Mrs Badger. I saw the aqua colour earlier. I think I prefer skirts that flare a bit though.

A shirt dres style.

I buy the smaller size to fit snuggly over waist and hips (these are my smallest parts) and have a vest top under dress so can leave top button open (which won't do up due to norks).

There are lots around at the moment. marks and spencer do a nice 'safari' style one.

StillWaters · 06/05/2008 11:05

Alos has some sleeves for covering flabby upper arms which often seem to go with large norks (or is that just me?).

FunkyGlassSlipper · 06/05/2008 11:09

I hadnt thought of that stillwaters. Doesn't it look like it is too small though? Ie, buttons not doing up. I never normally wear anything with buttons as they always gape, so it wouldnt have crossed my mind to wear one with vest under.

StillWaters · 06/05/2008 11:16

I use this trick alot as otherwise I have to buy things too big on the waist and hips to do up over my norks.

It can look quite sexy. One of my going out outfits is a very fitted black shirt with the top couple of buttons undone and asequin/lacy/sexy vest top with a flash of cleavage underneath. looks good with balck skiny jeans.

But i do it with dresses and jumpers alot too otherwise I'd struggle with fitted cloothes and have buy a size too big just for my norks.

Works well with a shirt dress. wear with big belt to cinch in waist or with the belt tied tight at back to make it more fitted so you don't look like the size of your norks all over.

StillWaters · 06/05/2008 11:17

Buttons undone fine, buttons gaping a definite No No.

I always have this trouble with buttons too, or I did before I bought 15 different styles and colours of vest tops.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 06/05/2008 16:35

Ok, I might try it Stillwaters.

Anyone else care to find me a suitable summer dress?

Black sundress Mrs B linked to ( the one with the belt) is fab.

I have it, and it's v flattering to big norks(although might need to o and buy it a size smaller as have shrunk since I bought it in Feb [boast])
