Is it possible to make curly hair into wavy hair?

Worth a try.
I have mid length hair, very soft, loose curls. I love it but would prefer something different for a while. I like the idea of a tousled wave instead of the tighter pattern.
My hair straightens easily but I don't suit it straight. I also don't like using heated tools. I don't like the zigzaggy waves done by irons either as it parches my hair and they drop out.

I have tried plaiting, but it is still kinkier than I'd like. Also tried drying in a tight ponytail but it came out too flat.

My natural hair is just like the first two photo's.
Prefer it to look like the third photo!
Is it possible?

Yes. Little bit of frizz ease when it is wet, then use a silicone free mousse, then rough dry it a bit (with hair dryer) then leave to finish drying naturally.

I have soft waves if I do that, but ringlets if I do a curl creme/gel approach.

I think it wold just go frizzy? If I dry naturally, even after combing straight, it curls. I think that something would have to sort of 'pull' it to stretch the curl.

Any kind of blow drying sends it poofy.

I hope that makes sense!

The frizz ease should reduce the frizz and the poof - have you ever tried it? Give it a go.

You could try bigger plaits or maybe plaiting it with some fabric so the kinks that the plaits make are larger? Or growing it longer, which might add weight and pull the curls out more. What happens if you brush it and then spritz it with water so it's damp and run a bit of conditioner through it?
