Help me choose ear piercing

Just that really, I have normal single pierced ears and now I am hitting 40 I'm keen to get another ear piercing. Where can I get it and tell me your stories of any pain. I'll start with a non ear piercing tale. My friend got her nipple pierced whilst we were on holiday in Greece at 17, it was interesting to watch but quickly became infected.

Get another lobe but further up?
I have 3 lobe piercings
Did have a rook but it didn't heal (my body sucks at healing piercings but is fine with tattoos) Confused

I have three sets of lobes, a conch and a daith in my left ear and an upper ear cartilage piercing on the flat on my right side.

Lobes were easy to heal. Daith and flat took about 9 months and the conch 10-12 months. The cartilage isn't is easy to heal but are great for one off piercings that don't always have to match.

Helix amd forward helix looks nice but can be hard to heal. How about a daith? You can get some lovely diamond clickers.

Had a Google and these look good. Do you leave the same earring in or switch them? I change my earrings and often won't have any in say overnight or at gym

Hi,

I have 3 in my right lobe 2 in my left lobe (teenage choices!) I had my right helix done at 14 - healed easily and I’ve worn a ring ever since. Tragus on left done at 17 and that took a while to heal. The swelling was unbelievable but again all fine.
Yesterday (I’m now 31!) I had my conch pierced. A few seconds of pinch - no freezing or numbing done - and it was fine. I’ve got a bar in but with a cute shaped jewel on it. Bit sore and trying not to get my hair caught round the back of the bar as they pierce with a longer bar in case of swelling. I’ll go back in 6-8 weeks to see if it’s ready for a shorter bar or even a ring. I’ll try attach a pic.

I'm so glad you posted this because I've been thinking about the same thing. Similar circumstances to you.

I've always wanted a second lobe piercing but never got around to it. Now I'm seriously considering if but getting cold feet!

ZaraSpellman · 19/01/2025 22:21

did second in both lobes and one helix Nov 2023. Quick pinch and fine helix took longer to heal but fine now but always wear something and change it regularly love them all

I have four in each lobe and a helix and tragus in one and forward helix in the other.

My advice would be to get one side done at a time so you can lay down on one side of your head in bed! So when I went from two to four lobe piercings I got the left ear done first, waited a couple of weeks and then went to do the right.

Go to a tattoo shop where they'll use a needle rather than anywhere that uses a gun.

Ooh! Ooh! Pick me! I'm currently on a major piercing kick.

I have triple lobe, double helix (all healed) and a daith (healing). I am 100% getting a conch next. A second lobe would be the easiest entry point to multiple piercings, a cartilage piercing is much trickier to heal but does open up more looks/possibilities, although you'll need either seamfree rings or labret studs to wear in them. It really depends what you're looking for/like the look of. You could get some ear cuffs to try out multiple possible positions. So far daith is my most satisfying and easy to heal piercing.

Vetoncall · 20/01/2025 01:12

I have triple lobe piercings in both ears, then helix and conch in the left ear and mid helix and flat in the right. I prefer an odd number so I'm getting a forward helix on the left ear this weekend and that'll be me done. The flat/mid helix combination and the conch are my favourites. All of mine have been pretty good in terms of healing but the flat was the easiest/best one, it seemed to heal perfectly pretty much straight away.

DreadPirateRobots · 20/01/2025 08:49

Current ear stack. The crisscross ring is a cuff, but I'm going to get the conch done right there so I can wear a similar ring. You can't see the daith as it's pierced with a curved barbell which is tucked away inside my ear, but imagine a jewelled hoop there. 😁

I have four in each lobe (tend to only wear a couple though) plus a helix and forward helix in my left ear. The helix was a bit tricky to heal but not awful. Forward helix is my favourite and healed super fast with no issues. It's very fiddly to change the stud but that might just be me.

DreadPirateRobots · 20/01/2025 09:09

@evilharpy do you have a labret insertion tool? I do and it makes labret studs way easier to change in and out. I still have to get DH to help to screw in some of the tiny fiddly top bits tho.

No I don't, I didn't know such a thing existed! I shall investigate. I did have to get my husband to help the other day and he found it very fiddly too but he has man fingers, my ten year old finds it much easier!
