Menopausal hair

OK, so perimenopause and just starting HRT....

But my hair is as dry as straw no matter what I do with it.

It's long, past my shoulders. I've box dyed it for most of my adult life and it's always been silky. It's usually bone straight, but I'm wondering if it's developing a bit of a wave these days. It's usually thick and heavy, but now it's lost a lot of it's bulk and my buns look teeny.

I currently use Kiehls Amino Acid shampoo and conditioner. I use Aussie 3 Min Miracle conditioner every week. I apply Aussie leave in conditioner. I've changed my crappy burny hairdryer for a fancy cooler one.

I've used all sorts of shampoos and conditioners, and tried leave in products, argan oil, Moroccan oil, and nothing really helps.

I've not dyed it for 2 months now and am thinking it's time to see a hairdresser to manage the colour and the condition. It not been cut in 6 months, but that's normal for me.

Any suggestions? Any products I need to buy? Anyone else had this?

Hello
Mine is the same. I've been using the Pantene intensive conditioner (comes in a gold coloured pot) and also Elvive Wonder Water is great too. Once a week I slather rosemary oil onto my hair and massage it into my scalp and cover my hair with a shower cap overnight and wash it out in the morning. It does make my hair softer and less dry.

I wash with conditioner ( any one) and detangle at the same time. Rinse. Then I use Cantu leave- in conditioner which I apply while hair is dripping wet. I find allowing it to drip through for a minute or so gets better results than if towel drying first.
I shampoo with a Lush solid shampoo bar once a month.
It seems to help.

I’ve been on HRT for 6 months too now and hair is definitely better than before I started taking it.
