Can anyone help me find a pair of sandals or flip flops that are really springy and good for your feet but not actually ugly as sin?

PLease? I have 2 problems - fallen arch thing on foot so I usually have to wear insole / supportive shoe
now have pelvic problem so unless shoe very springy it hurts like buggery every time foot hits pavement

I am down to one pair of Ecco trainers which are comfortable but it is getting HOT
need shoes for next 2 months which I can wear with a skirt ideally
not too pricey as only needed short term (baby due in July after which pelvis should be ok)
and not those kind of ugly walking sandals that I know some people do wear with skirts but I will not

Franny would some Flyflots/pavers be any good (try to ignore daytime TV-shopping associations). somehow I have ended up getting on their mailing list, because I got some slippers. they are really comfortable.

From shoe-shop.com here. Some styles definitely better than others! Pretty ones are under "mules" and "toe-posts". They often have sale/reduced ones.

Also found something similar to these very comfortable last year, did have had 2 pairs split the stitching but maybe they have improved design!

BettySpaghetti · 05/05/2008 20:28

Has anyone suggested Mephisto?

I have some toe post ones like on the link (scroll down to the Helen ones) and they are very comfortable

fishie · 05/05/2008 20:30

£40 is highly reasonable if you are wanting style, support and spring. what do you usually wear? have you tried ecco since you already like them? not those cod linked ones which look like a fence round a memorial.

cocolepew · 05/05/2008 20:30

Sorry PPS my speakers are disconnected!

radcliffe · 05/05/2008 20:32

M & S Footglove flipflops tried them on and they were extremely comfy they are on website, sorry don't know how to do links.

PenelopePitstops · 05/05/2008 20:34

lol coco you are luckY!!

FrannyandZooey · 05/05/2008 20:34

gosh what a lot of suggestions, thank you very much everyone

I usually don't wear them fishie as I have this fallen arch thingy
however I can usually wear something like ballet shoes with an insert in - now I can't wear those and have to buy something new anyway, I thought it would be great to have a sandal or flip flop

How about some Flitflops?

Erkdontwanttogetsoggy · 05/05/2008 20:36

Crocs are amazingly springy - have similar sort of arch prob and they are fantastic, sorry. Something to do with the way the material doesn't give - it's like walking on one of those padded playground surfaces.

Having said that, I won't wear them out of the house except when actually at a beach or going to and from one with kids when all dignity goes. So have similar problem finding shoes for normal summer days.

Erkdontwanttogetsoggy · 05/05/2008 20:36

Or rather the way it gives but doesn't compress over time so end up hard - it somehow stays springy forever.

cyanarasamba · 05/05/2008 20:42

I wore these with a shirtdress today - www.amazon.co.uk/Rockport-Rosella-Gpft-Grey-Apw3416G/dp/B0012L2XJW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=apparel&qid= 1210016376&sr=8-1 - not a sandal but very light and a summer version of my walking trainers.

expatinscotland · 06/05/2008 17:35

Hawkshead also has fabulous, stylish and comfortable shoes.

I love my Mary Jane style Crocs - have them in black and navy.

I do have the Cayman style crocs, but I've been shamed into only wearing them round hte house and garden now.

expatinscotland · 06/05/2008 17:36

i've got there

skechers

but the fashionistas went mad when i posted them and said they were fug.

they're soooo comfy!
