Help!

Have this event in 2 weeks. I have lost nearly 3 stone so everything in my wardrobe is too big and I want to look and feel fab.
My thoughts were to buy a ?plain dress and maybe a tartan headband or other tartan accessory. It also needs to be comfortable for some vigorous dancing.
Colour wise I thought a bottle green, red, deep blue or black- midi length or longer. Maybe velvet or heavy crepe. I prefer not to have a high neckline and arms must be covered. Wrap suits me but currently confused about what suits my body shape now.
Budget is not an issue.
So what dress would you wear? And what would you use to accessorise with?
All ideas gratefully received.

I never accesorise with tartan.

I will be wearing the 7 year old navy version of this dress with flat, silver leather Mary Jane shoes.

I think your idea to accessorise with tartan is a good one. You can reuse tartan accessories for years. Remember that vigorous dancing may be quite warming so short sleeves and a cardigan/wrap (could be tartan) might work well.

Good idea to choose a plain-ish dress in a convenient colour (as per your good seasonal colour suggestions). You'll have to try on some shapes to see what suits you best lately. (congrats on your transformation!) A plain dress in a 'winter' colour can be accessorised many ways...

Don't bother with tartan (other than taking a bloke in a kilt with you)

Yes to a plain dress in a winter colour - you want something with a bit of 'swish' rather than pencil skirt or bodycon style. The one linked above is great.

Have you been to a ceilidh before? Do you have an idea how 'enthusiastic' the dancing is likely to be with the crowd you are with? If you are new to it it might surprise you how robust it can get (!)

Don't go too short (or your underwear will be on display).

Make sure you have secure shoes - don't wear wobbly high heels & turn an ankle. Lots of women will wear flats or low heels for that reason.
