Hi all,
After maybe recommendations or guidance !
I've never been v.fashionable, I've no idea what style/colours suits me tbh!
I wear skinny jeans, with a loose v neck top and cardigan.
I don't wear make up anymore ( barely did before tbh) I don't do anything with my hair barr brush it.
I'm v.overweight which I am working on!
Feel frumpy and would rather blend in as much as possible !
I just need someone to tell me what would be a great style for me and go with it!

Has anyone felt the same? How do you get out of the rut?

Thanks

What texture is your hair? If it's straight, get some layers popped in. They instantly give a bit more life and lift to it.

How do you feel about skirts and dresses? I really like a belted waist shirt dress, like this Live Unlimited Curve Button Through Belted Shirt Dress, Black, 28. It goes well with boots!

John Lewis do free style advice appointments and wardrobe refresh appointments if you have a store near you- which are really helpful Personal Styling Service

Would perhaps help if I gave a visual of myself- I'm 5ft5, size 16, 14 stone .
My hair is straight and I do have layers in it so that's not so bad, however, I look like I'm dragged through a hedge most days as I dont really style my hair (dont use straightners/or curl my hair)

Unfortunately, nearest John Lewis is 3 hrs away.

I did buy some dresses a few years ago, I was a little bit ( only a little bit) slimmer.

Best feature I have is a bigger chest, I always go for vneck as draws eye to this ,but keep it modest so to speak.

I feel I should be on a transformation Gok wan show!!

Thanks for your reply, will look at dresses again!

This dress is nice and has a v-neck, again goes with boots and tights but also could be put with ballet pumps EVANS Plus Size Green Geometric Print Midi Dress | Evans.

I find myself reaching for dresses a lot because they make me feel put together, and they're less effort than trying to match trousers and tops together!

Jeans wise, I really like Lucy and Yak's, they're comfy and a nice denim and have lots of different options shape wise. I also like their skirts that they have in at the moment! They've got some nice straight legged trousers in at the moment, in various colours, which aren't too baggy but are more popular at the moment than skinny jeans Drew - Mid Rise Straight Jeans & Trousers - Organic Cotton – Lucy & Yak. I tend to pair jeans with a somewhat fitted sweater or top, and you can add a fun coloured belt to the jeans to break up the eyeline a bit if both the top and the jeans are neutral/darker colours.

I really appreciate your replies and suggestions!
I think I'm going to really look at similar styles of dress- I know this type suits me ( A line, v neck, long sleeve was my wedding dress last year too and Ive had similar casual dresses as above too!)
Thank you! Maybe time for a complete overhaul and just go dresses for a while!!

Here's my go to.
Edgy boots, sharp hair style. Anything in between doesn't matter..
So, get yourself some DMs snd book into a good hairdresser. Prepare to he bold on style and colour.
It's all about what makes you feel good.
