Not sure if I’m happy with Invisalign results…

I started invisalign in May 2023, was advised it was a minor case and would take approx 6 months and was £3000. Fast forward to now, I have just completed it as I had to ask for multiple refinements due to my front top tooth not sitting flush with the other tooth. Dentist eventually said they couldn’t bring it any further forward without affecting the bite, and it won’t sit flush because the surface of the tooth has eroded/worn down - best to go for composite bonding to give the illusion of it being straight. So I did that today, and now I feel like they’re front 2 teeth jut in front of the others and the bottom aren’t completely straight either? Maybe I was expecting too much, I really don’t know! It’s taken so long that I want to just be done now, but at the same time it’s been expensive and time consuming and I want to be happy with them. I also hate to complain and don’t want to be a PITA, so please tell me - would you be happy with this end result? I’ve included one before photo (they were more crooked than they look, from the side my front tooth almost sat behind my other front tooth) and a couple of non flattering grimaces of after photos to try and show the result!

I think they look great but obviously it's your mouth and you've paid a lot of money just don't accept what you're not happy with. You do not need to worry about being a 'pain' - you're a paying customer and you should get what you paid for.

Deebee90 · 13/01/2025 21:57

I had front top teeth like yours . The top ones I love and they look perfect for you but you’re right the bottom ones aren’t straight or equal and I’d want them to be corrected if they could be.

bellabelly · 13/01/2025 22:00

Honestly, I'd be delighted! I think they look great.

NotbloodyGivingupYet · 13/01/2025 22:03

That's a fabulous result. I've had Invisalign and I had a really stubborn tooth that took extra time so I know where you're coming from, but honestly, it looks great.

Snowfall11 · 13/01/2025 22:03

It looks like they gave you an overbite. Can you bite with your front teeth?

mustwashmycurtains · 13/01/2025 22:04

i had invisalign and was asking my dentist to refine the tiny last bits. he made the point that almost perfect teeth can look better than fully perfect ones - because they look more natural. Think about overly cosmetic or Turkey teeth, or some American style veneers - they dont look good because they are too perfect. I wouldn't straighten teh bottom ones - they look even and great to me

Tailfeather · 13/01/2025 22:07

I think they look amazing!!

coves · 13/01/2025 22:13

@Snowfall11 I can!

They look great op. I’d be delighted with that result.

Dentist here. It's a good result. I think the two front teeth look slightly boxy. I'd get the dentist to round off the distal incisal corners slightly

KarmenPQZ · 13/01/2025 22:19

To be honest your photos have acted like an ad for Invisalign to me and I’ve spent the last 20 mins googling and deciding if I should start the process. I think they look great. Definitely not perfect which is hard as you’ve invested your time and money so I can see why you could be disappointed but you have a really lovely smile

PeachRose1986 · 13/01/2025 22:22

Looks great, will probably just take a while to get used to the bonding feeling slightly proud (but honestly it doesn’t look proud).

mcmooberry · 13/01/2025 22:27

I would be 100% happy with these they look great! A huge improvement!

coves · 13/01/2025 22:33

Thanks all, you’ve reassured me! I think it’s possibly just me getting used to them feeling so different as the bonding is quite bulky and I’ve never not had that front tooth sit this flush before! I’ve got my final appointment last week so I’ll spend the week getting used to them and make sure I’m happy.

As far as Invisalign goes the result is good. In terms of orthodontics the result isn't that great but it all depends on your expectations. If you just wanted to correct the overlap of your central incisors then I'd be pleased if I were you.

Is Invisalign not the best choice for orthodontics then?

Do it. I procrastinated for years and getting Invisalign was the best money I ever spent.

OP. I think the result is fantastic and agree with everyone who said ‘perfect’ teeth don’t look right. You were working with your own teeth after all. If you want the perfection and symmetry then you should have gone for veneers.

Luminousalumnus · 13/01/2025 23:25

They look great. They still look like your teeth and like they could be completely natural.

shakeitoffsis · 14/01/2025 06:08

@Polkadotbean Invisalign is far from orthodontics according to many consultants. It's generally for people who don't want the aesthetics of fixed appliances but the results are nearly always compromised in some way as many malocclusions can't be corrected using aligners.

JustLikeThatBluebird · 14/01/2025 11:00

Invisalign is never going to give optimal results but I think you have a good result there, I'd be happy.

JoanCollinsDiva · 14/01/2025 11:04

If you're not happy you're not happy but I think they look fab!

I had Invisalign and composite bonding too and ive been thrilled. At first I worried I should've had them done to look more "perfect" but now I'm glad I didn't as they still look natural. Just nice naturally straight looking teeth is what you're after, not turkey teeth!

JoanCollinsDiva · 14/01/2025 11:05

I also think the two slightly larger front teeth is very attractive.

SnidelyWhiplash · 14/01/2025 11:05

They look so much better than the before. I’d be pretty happy with the result.

rollon25again · 14/01/2025 19:11

No. Invisalign gives good results but actually fixed appliances provided by an orthodontist are the optimal form of treatment.
