Acne spots

DD has some acne spots that resemble blisters. What should she be putting on them?

Salicylic acid like Paula's choice BHA liquid

Take her to your GP to get proper acne medication such as lymecycline

They can also prescribe Acnecide which has Benzoyl peroxide and is an effective adjunct along with the medication

Go to the gp anyway but I would also recommend looking at what products she’s already using and trying to eliminate any of those that could be causing the issue as opposed to going straight to using something topical straight away.
I find things with lots of silicone/ dimethicone are bad for causing break outs, same with petroleum, talc, oils generally particularly coconut, Shea butter, lanolin..basically all sunscreens 🙄 Also be very careful to clean any makeup sponges/ brushes regularly, keep hair off the face as much as possible especially if it’s greasy and avoid applying pressure when rubbing/ massaging the skin when applying products.
When there is a break out, the thing I find the best is calamine lotion dabbed onto clean skin and left overnight.
All of these things help control breakouts for me but there ultimately it’s down to hormones. Tracking your cycle can help to get to grips with when things are going to flare up. A low GI diet can really help too.
I find Neutrogena pink grapefruit face wash really good for preventing breakouts too.

Resemble blisters? So are they like a bubble of skin with fluid inside? If so, that doesn’t sound like any kind of acne spot to me - could be something else.

Yes, like a bubble of fluid with a thicker skin than a blister.

@StrawberrySwitchblades yes, there’s definitely a hormonal element to it

Gentle exfoliation will remove the pustules but won't stop them popping up elsewhere if it's hormonal.

I would take her to a dermatologist if it's actual acne and not just a few spots.

Meanwhile don't waste money on harsh shop bought lotions and potions that will strip the skin and make it go into overdrive and produce more oil.

Use a gentle exfoliating product such as this one - www.lookfantastic.com/p/neutrogena-clear-and-defend-exfoliator-125ml/14895813/

Try and resist the urge to pick and squeeze as she could end up with red scars or even worse, large indents in the skin such as ice pick scars.

Is it clear fluid inside the blisters? That isn’t a usual type of acne if so and I would get it checked out in case it is something else.

My usual first recommendation for acne would be Acnecide (over the counter) or Epiduo (via GP) alongside a salicylic acid face wash like Cerave and a lightweight moisturiser.

However in this case I do think you should check first in case it’s not acne. Pharmacist could have a look if it’s tricky to get to the GP. A cream like Acnecide is quite harsh and could cause more issues if it isn’t actually acne. Same with any exfoliant.
