If you’re an ‘autumn’ colouring what colours do you wear beside neutrals etc?

I had my colours done a long time ago and was told I was an autumn and suited various neutrals plus burgundy, rusts, browns and some muted greens. (Basically imagine Autumn colours).

The problem is this is now all I wear. It’s a great capsule wardrobe but with no colour!

I’m looking for Spring outfits for a Wedding & mini break in April and have no idea what to look for.

If you have Autumn colouring or you’re good at colours can you help me out? What do you wear in Spring?

I'm a soft Autumn & can often get away with some soft summer colours. I can wear several shades of greens or blues apart from the harsh electric blue or acid green.

Pastel blues, pinks of all shades, peach & Ice cream colours are coming in for spring. If you follow Melissa Murrell on Instagram she has some examples of colours that will be popular over the coming season.

Cornflower blue, coral.

Burnt orange, mustard, red (I'm wearing a long red coat atm which is getting lots of compliments), golden yellow are all in my wardrobe

Coral and red are the ones I add though I do find that in the winter when my freckles aren't as evident I can get away with some of the brighter jewel type winter colours

Tomato red and golds look good too. I agree with salmon pink or coral pinks too. I don't think that you can call a wardrobe full of green, brown, burgundy and rust as have no colour! It's not exactly monochromatic.

Oranges, reds, teal, mustard…
Bottle green.
Purple.

I don’t do burgundy as it brings out the red in my face.

All the above. Also teal, yellow & peachy-pink.

Teal is good for us autumns

I’d say that colours from the spring pallette would suit you more than winter or summer ones if you are a true autumn. That would give some brightness

You can make them 'pop' with your version of cream. Old gold is also really nice - think accessories, shoes etc.

If you wanted something completely different you don't mention red, but in autumn you have poppy red, geranium red. Also pinks like coral.

I like pinks and greens in Spring as it's fresh.

I'm a Paintbox Spring not an autumn, but was almost one!

I'm a deep autumn so I use brights for accents: coral, chartreuse, kingfisher, gold. Probably most of my wardrobe can be roughly split between greens and oranges.

Kettlewell colour chart is great, also their FB Colour Club group and FB Awesome Autumns. They discuss this sort of thing all the time.

All neutrals is quite a soft autumn palette, do you know your subseason? Maybe time for a rerate? They can drape you again to see if your best colours have changed due to skin/hair changes. Do you love your palette and feel great in your colours, but it needs a refresh? Or you're not feeling it?

Magamom · 10/01/2025 15:40

There’s other colors you can wear, it’s about the shade. I used “house of colour “and they gave me a swatch with all my colors, I recommend them. I’m a warm autumn.

I love my pastel blue autumn palette, would just never think of wearing any other colours.

In spring, I find myself gravitating to creme and tan, or creme and a warm navy, occasionally adding in some pale leopard (think snow leopard) print, also khaki and creme.

In winter, I'd tend toward darker browns and greens. Brown leather rather than tan. Enjoy.
