Scar management

I had festive injury over the Christmas period (not drink related) and ended up with quite a large cut over my eye that needed glueing. It's in quite a prominent central facial location so would love to avoid it scarring as much as possible. I'm currently looking quite intimidating / scaring children which wasn't the look I was hoping to bring to 2025.

Currently it looks like it's scabbed over, It happened 7 days ago so NHS advice was to take off dressing and it is now allowed to be wet.

I've read lots of conflicting advice online about how to treat a glued wound, some say you can massage cream into it straight away others say not to as the glue needs to settle.

Can anyone offer any pearls of wisdom to minimise scarring without affecting the glue. I'd really like to be in a position in the next few months where I can smile at babies without them crying. Thanks!

Silicon scar gel or patches is the best for healing scars. Not sure if you need to wait for it to be fully healed over before you can use it though.

This stuff worked well when I fell and split my nose open. Can get it on amazon.
I just chopped it into appropriate size chunks. Slept in it but also wore it during the day if not seeing anyone.
You probably have to wait until the scab has gone though as otherwise you might open the cut again

Yes try scar sheets. Then if the scar is raised, apply Dermovate ointment. Tretinoin is what will fade it though. Quite a few pharmacies sell it online now. Try Monderma or Obagi. 3-6 months.
