If you feel as though you have a bit of time to yourself in the mornings, what does your morning routine look like?
I'm starting a new part time job wfh next week which is going to be extraordinary as I have previously had a 45 min commute each way every day. I am hoping to use this as an opportunity to get into good habits as self care has been pretty much abandoned in recent years. But I can't really work out what that looks like - it's a luxurious problem to have! I know that, without a plan, I'll lie in bed hitting snooze, getting up at the last possible moment and spend the rest of the day annoyed with myself.
The new job is three consecutive days. Each day will start with a teams call (cameras on) at 8am. Youngest DC started secondary in September so they get to school independently and are pretty self sufficient in the morning. I do want to be around to deal with last minute disasters whether relating to missing items or hair. I'd also like to be available if they're in a chatty mood whilst having breakfast or whatever - one of the reasons for the job change is to be more present in their lives. No dog or anything.
I have visions of me waking up, stretching, going out in a floaty dressing gown onto a sun kissed balcony overlooking the sea with a coffee before doing some stretches and then making the DC a delicious and nutritious breakfast before we chat over the breakfast bar (by which time I will be magically showered, dressed with perfect hair & make up) and then they skip off to school and I get on with my day. This is clearly based on TV programmes rather than anything resembling my real life - I live in 60s surburbia in one of the most inland parts of the UK for example. I'm also quite clumsy!
What does your morning look like? And what do you do the night before to make your morning more achievable?
