Does anyone have these particular FitFlop Lace-Up Derbies? I’d like to know how you find the width fitting please. It says they are narrow fit but to size up if you have a wide foot, but I’d be concerned that the arch support will be in the wrong place then.

I have a wide foot and plantar fasciitis so I’m not spoilt for choice for work shoes, in case anyone says they are hideous! I’ve always found FitFlops brand suits me best.

That is a hefty looking shoe

What do you need them for, work? Walking? Standing?

Do you need black leather?

soupfiend · 31/12/2024 16:10

You said work sorry

Do they need to be balck

I swear by Birkenstock trainers, they do a black but with a white sole

@soupfiend I am looking for work shoes in black. I walk to/from work plus do the school run and already have comfortable trainers but I’m looking for shoes to wear at work, plus occasionally walking to/from work etc in.

It is critical that the shoes are supportive of plantar fasciitis, which I find Fit Flops is usually (as long as it’s not their very flat styles)- hence these shoes. Yes, they are chunky looking I guess. Ideally I’d like loafers but I don’t like any of Fit Flops styles at the moment.

I also don’t have money to burn just yet as I’m just gone back to work so I need to be thrifty with my spending for a few months, so not looking to spend £££ yet. However, without the right shoes I am in agony very quickly.

I’m afraid I don’t get on with Birks, same as for Skechers too.

Well they have changed my life to be fair, I have never been able to wear their sandals or clog/mule things, my feet cant cope with that, I dont get PF as such but have suffered and still do with awful heel pain if I dont wear the right ones.

I wear the black ones with white sole for work, to walk to work in them too, 3 miles a day in total.

Ive often thought of colouring in the white sole with a black marker pen so they look more shoe like.

I think if you know that the fitflop design suits your needs its worth a punt, but I too have spent too much, thousands probably, on pairs of shoes that seem ok at the time but over time kill me. And Im talking sensible clompy/comfort shoes too.

I just bought a pair in my normal size.
They are very tight around the toes but ok length wise.

Ive now ordered a half size up to see if they are better.( but they will be too long...)

I fear both pairs will be going back which is a shame because I do like the style.

Oh and I should have said that I have the widest feet, it seems no shoes are a match for the width and birkenstocks are virtually square! Like my feet!!

AllAboutTheWrinkles · 31/12/2024 19:34

I have these in my normal size (EU41) and they are fine but I would say my feet are narrow to average. My dd has the same size feet as me but hers are quite wide and she couldn’t get her foot in them I’m afraid, so I’d be cautious. But FF do refund quickly I’ve found.

update - The larger size arrived and they fit fine. I'm keeping them :)
